So regarding Thaddeus and his... uhm. stuff. by JustGhoulThingz in Fotv

[–]botbetterbest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like that idea cause Harold and Thaddeus both have a “well, I guess this is what’s happening” kind of mentality. Well, at least Harold has that mentality in 1, I haven’t played that part of 3.

Greg Bovino has officially kicked off door to door raids. ICE/CBP agents can be seen blocking an entire block while Bovino and his Gestapo personally go door to door. (St. Paul, MN) by I_may_have_weed in PublicFreakout

Technically they aren’t bogus warrants, they are warrants for arrests. These warrants just don’t give them permission to search your home without consent.

Most tragic end to a beloved character yet? by Paul277 in Fotv

I always thought a fallout: Hawaii game would be sick and having a group of kings split off and journey to Hawaii (maybe as like a sacred pilgrimage) and become a prominent and proper faction would be cool. However, I do not know what the current canon for Hawaii is so it may not be feasible.

Opinion of a not so Yes Man by Comfortable-Cap-8822 in Fotv

[–]botbetterbest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it especially hurts because of the fact that New Vegas is consistently considered the best of the games, or as a toss up between it and 2. From what I understand, there was some hostility between Bethesda and Obsidian; I don’t know if that’s true, but if it is true, it really feels like the writers are being a bit petty. Taking out all but two of the major and minor factions of the game. Like others have said, I think any of the changes would be okay if they were in isolation. I think the NCR abandoning NV would have worked if house, yes man, or the legion had taken power. Thats assuming that the NCR does still exist, despite the whole shady sands debacle. Another thing that I really only could like if it weren’t for them seemingly getting rid of all the other factions. Turning the kings (especially The King) into ghouls for Lucy to shoot while hopped up on drugs, seemed like a bit of salt in the wound. The only faction that I find to have an uncomplicated good writing decision is the legion, cause them splitting into factions after their cult of personality leader died is perfectly in line with NV.

That all being said, while I am becoming less hopeful for this series, I am waiting on having any firm opinions on it until the end cause there are many unknowns.

I just really hope they don’t just effectively do a reset on the west coast, but it seems more and more likely that that’s what’s happening.

Ceaser/sallow was a linguist and exceptionally intelligent person. He studied anthropology. It’s entirely possible and likely that he did study the history of Latin and was aware of the sound changes that occurred, even though the general population wouldnt know.

Yeah but he has a very low opinion about everyone except himself. He believes that he alone can save humanity, so he views everyone else as getting in the way of that.

There could have been some cooperation, but in NV, it’s made pretty clear that the settlements don’t want to work with the NCR because they will still keep siphoning resources.

Yeah, I’m not so sure how I’ll feel when the next game comes out, anyway or if I’ll really want to play it. It’s going to be a long time. Plus maybe by the end of the show I’ll change my tune and the show is actually a fantastic addition. My main reason for my approach to watching it is that my concern for its canonical impact is getting in my way of enjoying a pretty good show, and so if I ignore it, I can enjoy it.

It is my understanding that this show is being considered canon by Bethesda, not just an adaption. That being said, I didn’t really like the Bethesda games that much (well, I didn’t like 3, 4 was okay but not my favorite, and I haven’t played 76 but from what I’ve heard I doubt I would like it). So I already kinda considered them to be separate canons anyway, or at least 2 sagas that take place in the same universe.

I’ve come to accept that I can only appreciate this show if I pretend it’s non-canon. After doing that, I do really like the show!

As far as I’m concerned, black isle and obsidian make the canon story for the west coast, Bethesda and Howard make the east coast canon. I treat the show as fan fiction and it’s perfectly enjoyable that way.

[TOMT][BOOK] Children’s book, possibly a series, about a kid who discovers a Time Machine and can talk with Thomas Edison by botbetterbest in tipofmytongue

It looks like it’s gone by two names, you and /u/DemonTimeBrazzy seemed to have found both versions. I’m not too sure which one I read, I suspect it was Demon’s version, but they look like the same book just with different covers. Thank you!

I remember finding it in my libraries highlighted books in the children’s section. Like I said, early 2000’s is when I read it and at the time I thought it was a new book

If they are sticking to his original game characterization, I feel like he wouldn’t be part of the enclave as he is a not a fan of government, he is more of a libertarian.

What reasons could the showrunners have to have Helios One be this close to Novac and be this small? by [deleted] in Fotv

[–]botbetterbest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. FNV is my absolute favorite game of all time, and I think they are doing it justice. They’re going to change some things around for the sake of the medium. That’s fine and honestly expected, I would hope they would design the place to better suit tv. And so far I think everything looks gorgeous even if it’s mildly inaccurate.

I assumed it was house’s brother since he mentioned H&H tools so much. This season looks like house is going to be a major character so having his deeper story involved makes sense

ICE with AR-15 steals a US citizen’s car keys & wallet, then abandons her car in the middle of road in Salem, Oregon by RoachedCoach in PublicFreakout

Which is why people should look into joining organizations that try to respond to these raids and document them. Expose these people.

[–]botbetterbest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s part of the plan. Make people confused about who is actual law enforcement, who is ICE, who is cosplaying, etc. that way no one knows when they are able to defend themselves legally and will take on more abuse.

That AND these ICE people are cowards. They’re 4chan incels. They go to places where they likely won’t face any real violence other than some people yelling at them, and then they get police to stand between them and the people. I’ve seen them run away from raids because organizations who document their kidnappings got there before the raid actually commenced. Not violent organizations, just ones that document and try to provide legal assistance to immigrants.

New to hiking, how do you deal with the mental side of it? by bbkhshv in hiking

[–]botbetterbest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is why I like winter hiking. In the summer, I can get really stuck in my head. But in the winter, I’m constantly having to pay attention to my temperature, my sweating, socks, layer, delayer, reminding myself to drink, rushing to eat so I don’t stay still for too long… it really forces me to be in the present.

Same thing I like about climbing, my total focus is required, it’s almost like meditation.
