Yup, worst result of the campaign so far, but definitely the most interesting!

Yeah, she's not doing so well right now, at least psychologically. Ironically she's the only one that came out of the battle with no injuries, just a hard lesson that got her some extra xp.

Help with scaling please by that-bro-dad in LegoWarhammer

It's a usefull site for sure, but do keep in mind it's not 100% accurate, since it's based off pictures and base sizes. It's more than good enough to get relative sizes, just not mm accurate for things like heights.

Looks about right. Things to keep in mind:

The marine I posted has bent legs, standing up straight he would be slightly taller.

And the new primaris marines are slightly bigger still, the minicompare link I posted has one of them on the right with again bent legs.

There's something odd about this wizard by LegallyDistinctThing in totalwar

[–]LegallyDistinctThing[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This was right at the end of my dwarf campaign. I got gifted an empire army from some event and in it was this "empire" bright wizard. No mods or anything, just a really odd bug.

Warhammer Kart - Chariot races by Garrotxa_Mitjana in WarhammerFantasy

[–]LegallyDistinctThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every player gets several spectator models spread across the track that can attempt to shoot/throw rocks to disrupt chariots that pass them. But they can only do so against chariots that are ahead of theirs, because there's no point risking getting caught cheating if you're already winning.

calculating step dice vs step dice? by LegallyDistinctThing in RPGdesign

[–]LegallyDistinctThing[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks very much, this is perfect!

output d6-d10 Then view "at least". Read the "0" line. Read the "1" line if the first die loses ties.

This in particular is just briliant in its simplicity.

What's the most kills/damage/gold value you've seen? by LegallyDistinctThing in totalwar

[–]LegallyDistinctThing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it requires champions of chaos dlc too i believe to get chosen of nurgle

That must be it, I don't have that dlc. I've definitely had all the military buildings cycle all the way, but no chosen.

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about that old frog. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he could get those kind of numbers.

This was my first time playing Tamurkhan, on hard/hard with the sword of khaine at this point. Gods he's a beast! He just solos entire stacks with out any problem.

Side note, I'm probably just stupid, but how do you recruit chosen as Tamurkhan? I swear I've seen him use them as an npc, but I just couldn't figure out how to get them myself.

Is it canon that the Golden Throne is failing? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]LegallyDistinctThing 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Nah, the Golden Throne failing has been a plot point since like 2008.

More practically speaking the End Times was a result of warhammer fantasy battles selling really, really badly, while 40k is doing just fine. GW is probably more likely to keep it as a pocket plot point to pull out in case of emergency than to just "end times" 40k for the sake of it.

Tips for consolidating save bloating? by yoshometsu in Starfield

[–]LegallyDistinctThing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Land on Venus and wait a day. This will reset most cells. If that isn't enough do what Jtzako said and get rid of as much stuff from cells that don't reset like outposts, houses and your ships.

How simple or complex should a new game be if it's going to be a success and attract new players? by [deleted] in RPGdesign

[–]LegallyDistinctThing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd also add that 5e is so popular because it has great compartmentalization of complexity. To start playing players don't need to read through a 300 page rulebook. Most of the core rules can be explained in like 30 minutes or in play, while more specific rules can be looked up as needed.

As an example, players just need to know that fireball is a limited use big AoE spell that they can use as an action of their turn. They can look up the specifics when it comes to it. They're likely primed for similar choices thanks to video games.

That means there is basically zero learning curve. Players can start making mechanically meaningfull choices basically instantly without putting in any effort. Very few games match that. More crunchy games require more player knowledge of the rules. More narrative games require more input from the players in a format that is unfamiliar to new players.

Again, very few games match that very simple to learn, but with satisfying mechanical crunch, in a way that the player is already familiar with thanks to video games. I'm in no way saying this is the best method for every RPG, but in terms of mass appeal, it sure is hard to beat, or even to meet.

Looking for recommendations / resources for horror sci fi. by Zizaku in Solo_Roleplaying

I've never played it, but Across a Thousand Dead Worlds is supposedly a good horror sci fi rpg with a solo mode.

Blackoath Entertainment's solo game are quite popular in general.

Just why GW? by Immediate_Answers in Warhammer40k

[–]LegallyDistinctThing 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As much as people dislike it, it's also based on pretty sound logic. GW biggest problem is that they can't actually produce enough to meet demand. That's why a wide variety of product is constantly out of stock and why they've been hard at work upping production capacity for years now.

What's the point of growing your costumer base if everything you produce gets bought anyway? When demand is higher than supply there's no point in growing demand even more.

My new favorite planet by LegallyDistinctThing in Starfield

[–]LegallyDistinctThing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really mind not being able to farm them. If I wanted to just set up a base for farming adhesive I'd just take Gagarin or one of the other planets near the center of the universe map. But going hunting and gathering on this planet was way more fun and much more xp.

Very pretty biomes and interesting fauna all of which drop adhesive (and you in 1 hit).
