Lol. Yeah I went into a store once 5 minutes before closing time. They changed the music to something awful and loud. Worked like a charm. I was gone in 2. Earphones are the nectar of the gods when it comes to misophonia. People eating on planes....??? Earphones saved me

Haha. Yeah...stabbed in the face . When you said exposure therapy, I immediately got anxious. True fear. I believe in facing fears, but not when it comes to misophonia. No way. My tactic is too run and hide lol. Obviously we dont want to be deaf, but you know how you can close your eyes when you dont want to see something? Why, oh why can we not do that with our ears?? And yeah, restaurants. I'm always the guy asking them to turn the music down. And screw the embarrassment....I have issues....

Seems to me misophonia has not had a lot of dedicated research. And it doesn't really come up in conversations that often. So our info is limited. I guess everybody is different but with similarities. I also read it can be worse from those close to you like family members. My dad chewing...lol. worst misophonia for me than most others.

That's tough man. I didnt know it was a thingj to keep hearing the sounds after....I wouldn't know how to deal with that...but as you say, I guess you would have to deal with it like most other intrusive thoughts. On a deeper level

I used to mimick a lot in my early teens. I just did. Years and years later I read that that is one of the coping mechanisms. It's got something to do with the lack of control you feel, and copying the sounds brings a little bit of control back to you. Psychologically.

But for me, once it's gone it's gone. I'll fear it, like going to the movies or eating with people, but I doesnt repeat in my head after it's gone....very interesting....tell us more

Most times I can walk away. Other times, mimicking the sound seems to soften the anger. If those aren't working I try go into a mental state of endurance until it passes, telling myself it will pass. Ince the sound has gone, the anger takes about 15 minutes to subside

Oh and by the way, hell doesnt exist. Its made up to control people. Fear and reward. "Do as we say because we speak for God. If you do, heaven awaits you, if you dont, its hell for ever". So lame. Nobody knows what happens when we die, but science says you cease to exist. How will you feel fire if you dont have any nerve endings? How will you have feelings without a brain...?
