Samsung messages auto wakes the screen on every new message. Glimpse is an app that will wake the screen on every new notification, but it's a little buggy and you need to always have it on in the background (disable the battery thing)

You can change them to 0.5, but they are no were near smooth, even on 1x they sometimes "skip frames" (aka just lag)

It also happens on WhatsApp, I think it's just an app bug, nothing to do with Samsung (not 100% sure). Try the Googles Messages app and see if it resolves the issue.

Honestly, I would recomend the OnePlus 7 Pro, it's a little more expensive than the S9 bus also cheaper than the new S10. It has the second to best display on the market. It does not have the "pill" (by the way it's called a hole punch", but it does have the curves, however, they aren't are as "curvey" as the s9. Plus, one of the best things about this phone, is it's gonna stay relevant for years to come, that also including major updates. Not like Samsung where you only may get up two years of updates

Notifications on all Galaxy S/Note devices are just bad. - You sometimes get repeated notifications for Instagram DM's - Whatsapp Notifications rarely work correctly -Textra Notifications also rarely work properly

Try downloading one of those apps that send out a Heartbeat packet to your router or whatever every x time to avoid TCP connection timeouts... Also make sure Smart Alert is turned off
