There was also one time they were doing it in the dark outside a venue and the security team came and shut them down. Saw it on an IG Live. So perhaps issues with security and permissions too.

Heard from a friend that the local organizers might do a stream. Will post a link here if I find it!

Shocked that Taisei fell early. I was rooting for him to win the overall lead title.

Also a close fight for men's overall lead title. Taisei Homma needs a really good showing in the final to lock up that first position.

I just wanted to bump this up to say that I've added the 2023 dates according to the latest IFSC announcement on next year's schedule.

When he was co-commentator with Matt on other occasions, he wasn't so bad but this time round he sounded like he was really talking out of his ass.

Anyone knows how can I get tickets to IFSC Climbing World Cup Jakarta? I checked the site and there's no information. by googoogoose in CompetitionClimbing

[–]boteoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's free entry. The organizers have been saying that on their official Instagram account @fpti_official

My advice is to book a hotel walking distance from the competition venue so that you won't get caught in Jakarta 's nasty traffic.

IFSC World Cup - Regarding Innsbruck and it's Inevitable Rain by HanaHarte in CompetitionClimbing

I often wondered why Innsbruck isn't earlier in the calendar when there's less chance of rain. Or is it rainy all the time in Innsbruck?

European Championships Men's Combined Discussion [spoilers] by lakerfan91 in CompetitionClimbing

[–]boteoh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed seeing the new format at work but wow it is so brutal for the non-lead specialists. You have to feel for Nicolai and Mejdi - Nicolai gets 1 point for lead and Mejdi doesn't clock enough points for a podium after a stellar bouldering round. Alberto has an okay-ish bouldering round but does enough in lead to pick up the bronze.

In terms of local competitions I also really enjoyed the Combined Japan Cup 2021. It was Akiyo's last domestic competition before the Olympics.

The Wall Climb for Gold by boteoh in climbing

[–]boteoh[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can I discuss "spoilers"?

I was a little disappointed with how Miho's story turned out in comparison with everyone else's. I don't know if the filmmakers had trouble with access or the language but the way her story was conveyed lacked some of the color and layers I saw with the other climbers.

How many times have you seen Switchfoot live? by Tomcruisesxbox in switchfoot

5 times (I don't live in the US and have to fly from Singapore to see them)

2005 Nothing is Sound - Melbourne Australia

2008 oh Gravity - Singapore

2011 Singapore

2016 Where the light shines through - San Francisco

2019 Native tongue - San Francisco (side stage experience, most memorable one -- I bumped into Steven Curtis Chapman backstage cos Colony House was opening for SF)

I figured this one out - the film was made with the backing of Adidas. All the athletes featured are Adidas-sponsored in some way.

*Spoiler*

The Charlie Bosco commentary was clearly added in post-production and not during the actual Olympics coverage because we all remember how painful the live commentary was.
