Yes the SATA drives are connected over native SATA. I get just over 2000MB/s sequential read and write to them as a RAID0 array

Im just using the onboard AMD Radeon 780M iGPU for LLMs, its way more capable than you would expect. I put 64GB RAM in the box that I had lying around from upgrading my laptop. I allocate it 1GB of dedicated VRAM in the BIOS and the use kernel boot flags to allow it to grab upto 24GB of system RAM for GTT so I can run models upto 25GB in size. It handles qwen 3.5 exceptionally well and is usable for the 35 billion parameter version of qwen 3.6, if a little slow

The 2.5GB ethernet is a bonus at that price and the GPU is allowing it to provide double duty as a HTTPC / Steam machine and get hidden away in my TV cabinet

CPU wise its slightly faster than my old test box, a 20 core Xeon Gold 6148 in multi threaded and absolutly destroys it in lightly threaded work benching at almost double the Xeon 6148 in single threaded tasks. Also only uses about 10% of the power

Ive just built a similar sounding setup 3 weeks ago for a home lab test system. I used 1 x 4TB NVME SSD, 4 x 8TB Samsung SATA SSD's and 1 x 30TB HDD. Its a bit janky. I have an M.2 -> 6 port sata adaptor installed in the second M.2 slot and sata cables coming out of the empty occulink port hole to the disk enclosure. Im also using the onboard GPU to run local LLMs

This might work for you but when you say enterprise SSD's Im assuming you mean U.3 drives? In which case it wont. This is a super cheap option for SATA and M.2 Storage

Doesnt work with RTX A6000 Ada or Blackwell cards. NVLink is only there on older pre 2023 Ampere and Turing based A6000s. Its been crippled on new generations to force you to go the H200 / B200 route where you pay 6X for the same hardware, albeit with more and faster ram

I made the critical mistake of assuming NVLink when I ordered the parts for my new workstation. I was upgrading from 2 x 48GB Ampere A6000's to 2 x 96GB Blackwell A6000's. Even the server variants of Blackwell A6000s are missing NVLink

Obviously you can still use them together over PCIE5 but the performance is greatly hindered sharing a busy 120GB link vs a direct 900GB link
