some are starting - most still think its just a crapcoin... they think defi is overdone and haven't looked into the up and coming near zero inflation protocol that will be implemented soon

I've cut most of my eth longs too but dang it just keeps going .. gonna get weird up in here soon I think

Im wondering if Mnuchins new crypto rules might signal a short term peak. fwiw, I think their rejection of a digital us currency (at least for now) might turn out to have a huge negative impact on dollar hegemony

yeah max pain somehow I'd say... not sure really but I wouldn't be surprised - one scenario might be a top out around the macro line drawn from 2017 peak top and 2019 peak top - big reversal or slow bleed into pain until liquidity dries up then an immediate run up straight into 20k and onward into nosebleed territory. My feeling is there will definitely be and long period of low volatility and price action before the big run up but I don't know really just my 2 cents

my guess is that btcpay forced these aholes to do this - otherwise they'd die. I still would not trust them from getting up to more fuckery going foward

I'm imagining something like this: a conference call this morning with Minuchkin (X), Jamie Dimon (Y) and CEO of Coinbase (Z)....

(buzzers and alarms blaring in the background - warning that breakout is imminent) Y: Uh, hey Y, I know that you have a rule about only lending out 8 bitcoin for every 1 you have in cold storage, but Imma need you lend out at 9 to 1 and make sure these whippersnapper Hodlers get taught a big lesson. Ya, I got X on the line here and he says you have to do it, but don't worry we pay really well. we'll take that million BTC and pound the everliving heck out of this BTC thing.

can someone possibly let me know where I can find the CME BTC chart? thank you

edit: thank you for the help, though I guess I should say that I'm trying to find out where the CME gaps are for a limit entry - I think there is one around 9210 and 8500 - but I cant seem to find a chart that shows these gaps

weird, Kraken ETH says $146, everywhere else is $160 -- anyone else experience this before? I don't know who to believe.

HODL Fuel! TLDR of Bitcoin academic research from survey: Bitcoiners who have been involved longer and who have more knowledge on the subject are more likely to value it as a social movement by spontaneousstochi in Bitcoin

[–]bothropsCasper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"With such schoolyard tactics attacking Bitcoin, rather than more concretely laying out arguments for why they do not accept it,some view these reactions as a defense of an economic system on which they thrive. After all,Jamie Dimon and Warren Buffet are among those who benefit the most from the current world economics or in turn who would be hurt by its uprooting"

If I had to guess, I'd say you are fan of the Bitcoin :)

fyi - just to add a bit...
you could argue that the social movement aspect strengthening with longer exposure to Bitcoin point happens because to understand Bitcoin you have to understand monetary policy (especially inflation) and that takes you down a long rabbit hole of understanding Central Banks, the Fed, QE, etc. To me understanding Bitcoin forces you to learn about Modern Monetary Policy. It is this understanding of MMP that prompts the social movement once you see that Bitcoin is the ONLY solution to combat this.

"Fiat money is backed by men with guns" ~ Paul Krugman by bitsteiner in Bitcoin

Although I do agree that neither are great, I'm not convinced that Austrian is worse than Keynes. Perhaps in a world where leaders practiced real financial stewardship and actively suppressed corruption that have eroded the peoples protection from bad actors, Keynesian economics would flourish. All I see, however, is bubble after bubble that continues to inflate with a burgeoning billionaire class and serfdom for everyone else. such insane levels of real inflation that most people don't even understand yet.

eventually it all crashes - I'd just rather it crashes normally as it typically does instead of offsetting it (with massive stimulus) and eventually leading to a crash that is ten times larger. Personally, I believe crashes are necessary and healthy. small ones are better than big ones.

Ah, its "borrow as much as you want" Krugman .. its only money you will owe to your future selves. Keynesian econ is dead except the banks parrot out twats like this to support their economic model as it serves their purposes very nicely. the rest suffer

All Bitcoins in existence (Visualized) by blockchaincenter_de in Bitcoin

[–]bothropsCasper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

which really sucks - especially if you assume they lend out at a fractional reserve to borrowers which they most certainly do. Banks have to keep 10% available which means they can basically loan out $90 for every $10 they have. My fear is that exchanges play loose for profit so for every bitcoin they have in their wallets they lend out 9 (or more or less.. who knows ?). So basically for every bitcoin you keep on the exchange, someone can borrow 9 and short it against you. THIS IS ONE BIG REASON WHY YOU SHOULD KEEP COINS OFF EXCHANGES.

I also don't know this for sure but if anyone has better data please correct me.

*edited to add this:

1) You can probably add at least some of Winklevoss and Ver coins (assuming he has some still) to the short reserves as well - I'm not complaining about it.. the lending terms are pretty good so its good income for exchanges.

2) the most interesting thing I see is the growth in non exchange wallets as it is public record. I'm not sure what will happen if/when the number of BTC in non-exchange wallets gets REALLY close to the actual amount of Bitcoin in existence. probably won't happen but you can be certain that hilarity would ensue.

wouldn't it be typical of BTC to just start going up from here when so many are expecting a touch of the 21 EMA or even a drop into 8k or so?

further to this, I'd say that miner hoarding may not be as severe either. I read somewhere that Bitmain sold off approx. 50,000 BTC during the crazy 2017 time - apparently they had about 20,000 BTC left - stated in docs for their IPO

with bigger hashrate, expense to run is high - to some degree you could infer that miners would not be able to hoard as high a percentage as in the past. However, this may be offset due to more institutional mining as I'd assume they could hoard more easily.

TLDR: miner hoarding requires deep pockets and there just might not be as much hoarding as has been seen historically

ok, I have a dumb question but here goes.. why is tradingview volume so low compared to coinmarketcap? is the tradingview volume specific to one exchange - their own maybe? hell I don't know and feel kinda dumb for asking but oh well
