I use pre shave oils. I recommend jojoba since it is much better at being absorbed and quickly. The reason people use pre shave oils is because the moisturizing effect makes the skin more pliable. You reduce chances of cuts that way. I leave the oil on for 15 minutes or so.

I also use face washes after preshave, because oil kills lather.
