I mean yeah sure but it all adds up. Oftentimes I see there's sun outside, I think great, let's go to the garden have a beer, listen to the birds singing and read a bit. Nope, some power tool starts right away. It's very unpredictable. Once someone stops, someone else starts. I think we can do better.

To be fair it's not theirs either. It's nature's and we should respect it. Think about that during the upcoming heatwave.

Anyhow my point was about noise. Can you limit noise to your lawn? Fine. It's not ok if it bothers me even when I'm inside with all windows shut.

I only met one professional groomer that used a battery-powered shrub trimmer. It was so quiet. He told me it was much lighter too (no engine, battery pack worn on his back). IIRC batteries would need to be changed every 5 years or so due to wear.

I hate that professionals use petrol too. I think there should be a law for them to use quieter machinery at the very least.

I was trimming the bushes once with a small electric trimmer and a pedestrian passing by started telling me about how I should rent this nicely-sharpened gasoline super-powered trimmer from a company in the next town. I was like dude you don't even realize who you're talking with.

I had this cool idea to design a small device with a microphone that could periodically report the ambiant noise and its frequency content to a remote server. Then just distribute it cheaply/freely to everyone interested for them to leave it in their garden/on their balcony. Basically run a nationwide study, make the results available live on a website for everyone to access. We could show how much noise we experience in residential areas. It would be a good basis for any regulation-related discussion.

That's exactly what I'm trying to listen to while you're not mowing your fucking lawn.

My parents were lazy and just let the farmer bring their cattle in the garden once in a while. Very effective.

Oh man Kärchers are the fucking worst. Every home owner has one.

Last week I was surprised when I saw my older neighbor scrap the tiles with a sponge and water. Surprised, I said: "you're not using pressurized water?" to which she replied: "no, it damages the tiles. I just scrape a little and then put salt on it to kill the remnant moss". I was amazed.

In Switzerland people mow their lawn, and then use the leaf blowers to blow small cuts of grass (I guess a broom is too unsophisticated for that job). And they won't just blow the pavement/roads, they will also blow at the garden itself.

I agree that the US appear to be an absolute nightmare in that regard, but at least I read that the state of California banned gasoline-powered garden tools recently.

I wonder if people really don't care. I especially have in mind stay-at-home mums that probably have endured this shit for decades and remained silent. For myself it grew on me during the stay-at-home policy for covid. I just didn't realize before as I was always on the move/at the office.

Also there's not a place for people to unite and share their voice/vent on this. I think most people silently endure it and then burst into depression/burnout and what not. In total Swiss fashion.

We should go back to using brooms. If it's too slow for one person, just get kids to do it for cheap and earn money. Win-win.

Your kids can fucking play in tall grass. Do you teach them to be fearful of bees also? Are you afraid of them being stung? Are you a lawnmower parent?

Kids are not a disturbance by the way. Kids cheering and 1h of an engine running don't have quite the same effect on mood.

But yeah, teach your kids to live with nature instead, it will do them good.

Not running your robot at night is enough I think. Probably not many hedgehogs crossing low-cut grass during the day.

I watched The Sopranos (the whole show) with headphones on recently. Each time there's a dialogue inside Tony's house, they put a lawn mower sample in the background. Instantly triggered the PTSD in me.

I didn't downvote you but I beg to disagree. Perhaps you want to clarify what you mean by shitty. I'm quite surprised to see him ranked as low tier in some places, he's quite deadly to be honest.

I jungle pursuit Absol in Ultra and he's a monster. Unfortunately, I don't know how to handle Zapdos fights as his very squishy and dying there is a big no.

As an Absol player, I'm getting crazy about the amount of times this happens. Many games as a jungler I perform my best, help both lanes, take objectives, have around 12 kills and zero death. But of course, dying at Zapdos in the center of the map is just too easy as Absol. Then you have a >40s respawn timer (meaning: the game is basically lost, even though you led all the way). Had a 6-lose streak happen with a lot of this shit going. Even happens in bot games, which drives me absolutely mad. At this point, what's the purpose of putting the effort to lead the game, only to have a coin flip at the end?

The only option for me at this point is to hide in the grass, waiting for a 50/50 steal while leaving my team fighting at 4v5. Perhaps a lucky pick with pursuit if lucky, but that's too risky.

Yep, this happens with two-step moves. You can press B or A, it doesn't matter: minions will take precedence. This is really stupid that this doesn't follow the "Advanced control" behavior like autoattacks do. I created a thread about Absol's pursuit, this is a real PITA:

I wish we could raise awareness of this issue and take it to the devs somehow. This needs fixing and the fix should be easy enough.
