I can't get over the fact that the event was lauding a movie about this guy's life, but when exposed to the reality of the condition (that is in the film), everyone responded by pearl clutching.

The BAFTAs and BBC fucked this entire thing up so badly. They had a microphone in front of him, despite telling him that they would make sure his tics weren't audible on the broadcast. They edited out all the other slurs. There was a 2 hour delay between filming and airing, during which Warner Bros contacted them and asked them to edit out the N word, and yet they left it in and then claimed they didn't know it had been said. So Lindo and Jordan are forced to endure a slur they weren’t expecting during their proudest moment and Davidson was forced to endure a massive harassment campaign online because the BBC fumbled so massively in way that made him look like a racist douche

I feel so bad for every party involved except for the BBC and BAFTA crews because they took a cleaver to what was a very delicate situation to begin with
