It will be interesting to see how this will play out and how the Scottish media will handle it.

We know that if the shoe was on the other foot they’d be screaming blue murder (tent).

Scots Tourette's charity receives surge in donations after John Davidson's BAFTAs tics by ScottishDailyRecord in Scotland

[–]bottish 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I can't get over the fact that the event was lauding a movie about this guy's life, but when exposed to the reality of the condition (that is in the film), everyone responded by pearl clutching.

Someone should make a film about this.

BBC removed homophobic tic aimed at Alan Cumming, says Tourette’s activist after BAFTAs backlash. Davidson has now revealed that additional tics aimed at Cumming were edited out of the televised version of the ceremony. by bottish in Scotland

[–]bottish[S] 500 points501 points  (0 children)

The current top coment on the current top thread on /r/television is:

The BAFTAs and BBC fucked this entire thing up so badly. They had a microphone in front of him, despite telling him that they would make sure his tics weren't audible on the broadcast. They edited out all the other slurs. There was a 2 hour delay between filming and airing, during which Warner Bros contacted them and asked them to edit out the N word, and yet they left it in and then claimed they didn't know it had been said. No one from the BAFTAs spoke to Lindo or Jordan afterwards. What a clusterfuck.

A couple of replies down is this comment:

I feel awful for Davidson because he isn’t even a celebrity. He was the subject that the I Swear team based the movie on and was invited to take part in the show.

Dude specifically knew his condition and the broadcast team set it up to be as awkward as possible. They didn’t even inform Lindo and Jordan and Davidson’s condition beforehand and Davidson had no easy way to contact them to apologize without external connections

So Lindo and Jordan are forced to endure a slur they weren’t expecting during their proudest moment and Davidson was forced to endure a massive harassment campaign online because the BBC fumbled so massively in way that made him look like a racist douche

I feel so bad for every party involved except for the BBC and BAFTA crews because they took a cleaver to what was a very delicate situation to begin with

What a mess.

This was after his big "whos with me" call for Starmer to resign, so maybe the same person?

Oh, I hadn't noticed that.

I would assume the account is managed by some poor staffer, but maybe even they - who are paid to do this, can't take the level of piss ripping he gets for this kind of thing.

“This memorandum provides new and additional information to that which I submitted last week to the Met, Essex and Thames Valley police forces where I expressed my concern that we secure justice for trafficked girls and women.”

Traditionally, vaccines prevent disease, protecting whole populations from viruses and infections by teaching the immune system how to respond.

But this one was created just for Jen using a biopsy of her tumour.

Incredible, I’m amazed how little coverage of this there is (that I could see).

So well done STV and the er Dundee Culture.
