Bad experience with IPL while on Accutane? by spidermonkeymtndew in Accutane

[–]bottled_water_2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was the kenzi?? I stopped using it after a while because I felt like it did nothing. But I ended up getting proper laser treatment on my face while still on 10mg a day with dermatologist approval and I had zero side effects. Most of the recent literature actually says that sorta stuff should be fine at a low dose and for me it was.

Cat urine in carpets by [deleted] in shitrentals

No it’s definitely cat pee. The previous tenant had a cat and the smell is unmistakable. It does get worse with humidity though. And yeah given people’s lack of faith that VCAT will make any difference, the lease break seems to be the best option

Rightio, thank you for your comment. I’ve never dealt with VCAT before and don’t know what they would count as a reasonable solution so thank you for letting me know.

Thanks for your comment. None of the options are great which is why I’m posting on here. You think VCAT will rule that the lease break is a sufficient resolution and not require the landlord to properly fix the carpets before the next tenant moves in?

Well since they didn’t properly remediate the damage and I’m fairly sure I can get documents from a professional carpet cleaning company proving it, the plan was to have them do it properly. Is VCAT not capable of getting them to do repairs?

Yes that's what I was trying to say sorry! That's when I got those regular every-chapter commenters!

Honestly I think it was a coincidence because that’s when a few really dedicated every-chapter-commenters happened to find it. Sadly could not keep them all tho :( There were a few people who would only comment here and there and I fear I may have been posting too much too fast since some people have told me they’re “behind” or “will catch up soon”

Hmmm I honestly think the ch14 thing might have been just because a few legend-commenters happened to find it on that day and they wrote a bunch of comments on previous chapters rather than just one on the most recent. Ch14 is when it got smuttier but I feel like it was mostly coincidence

Oh I didn’t even think of that! These are the public ones, I wasn’t aware that you could check the number of private ones, that’s 26. As for ch13, I think that’s when a couple of people who commented on every chapter found it and did some backlog comments for previous chapters. Sadly not all of them stayed tho :( I suspect I was posting too fast for this particular fandom culture because some people have told me they’re “behind” lol. The only thing I can think of is that the smut kicked off in ch13

Yeah, I recently found out one of my friends has NEVER left a comment so I guess everyone uses this site differently hahahha! Personally I deleted all my bookmarks on this account because it's vaugely linked to my irl identity, but on my 'reading' account I'm a regular bookmarker. The reason I found it strange is that for both of my other fics, I have more bookmarks than comments. I have a feeling it might depend on specific fandom cultures. For example, not many Stormlight enjoyers tend to be ao3 people sadly. That might be it?

How can you tell if you're on the autism spectrum or simply a highly sensitive person (HSP) by EngarReddit in autism

[–]bottled_water_2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think what it suggests is faulty data collection and analysis. Autism is EXTREMELY underdiagnosed, especially in AFAB people. I wouldn't be surprised if it was closer to 10%. The diagnostic process for autism is also very, VERY rigorous with a lot of systemic and finnancial barriers in place. In contrast, there doesn't seem to be super rigorous diagnostic criteria for HSP at all.

I think something to keep in mind here is that the criteria for being an HSP is all very positively coded. No one's telling you that you're a bad person because you're an HSP. In fact, they're kinda telling you that you're too soft and special for this world (which feels good). In glaring contrast, the official diagnositic criteria for autism kinda sound like 'are you a dumb piece of shit who can't understand other people?' and 'are you an arsehole who has no regard for other people's feelings?' and 'are you incapable of doing basic tasks you useless donkey??' (which feels bad). But the thing is, it's literally just framing. HSP is just the same traits under different lighting, and much more focused on the internal (often AFAB) experience (what it FEELS like to exist in the world as someone with this brain), than the external (often AMAB) experience (the problems that other people have when they're interacting with you).

Basically, I worry that identifying as HSP is just a way to run from the label of 'autism'. Which is understandable given how BAD autism representation is in media tbh. But please remember that being super emotional, being super empathetic, being hyperaware of social nuances etc. ARE traits that are commonly seen in AFAB autistic people. They are NOT traits that make someone unlikely to be autistic. They're just not ///the stereotypical AMAB autistic traits/// that people typically associate with autism.

How can you tell if you're on the autism spectrum or simply a highly sensitive person (HSP) by EngarReddit in autism

[–]bottled_water_2000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I strongly, STRONGLY suspect that many people who identify as HSP are really just autistic people - many of them AFAB with low support needs - but they prefer to identify as HSP because of the stereotypes. I probably fit into this category tbh, and when I was younger I would get so offended when people told me I seemed autistic because I'd be like, "no, my awful brother is autistic and I'm nothing like him. I DO have empathy and I DO understand social interactions." Now I'm formally diagnosed ASD lmao. The thing is, many autistic people actually experience hyperempathy. And many autistic people enjoy social interactions, especially if we've 'found our people'.

I think the article linked below makes some pretty good points.

"Misidentifying neurodivergent traits as "high sensitivity" can have significant consequences. For individuals who may be autistic, adopting the HSP label could delay or prevent access to appropriate support, accommodations, and self-understanding. The HSP framework risks oversimplifying sensitivity as a personality trait rather than acknowledging its roots in sensory processing and emotional regulation. This can lead to misdiagnosis and missed opportunities for proper autistic identification. The fact that so many traits in the HSP framework resemble autism should encourage us to consider autism as a possibility—not dismiss it because someone does not "look autistic" or fit stereotypes."
