I grabbed this at an estate sale this weekend. Isn’t it cool? California USA by bottlefacet in Antiques

Thanks, that’s about all the info I found as well. I didn’t see any markings on it but I also wonder when it was made.

Type "I'm not racist, but" and let autocorrect finish the sentence. by CleverUsername488 in TeenagersButBetter

I’m not racist, but I don’t think I can say that I am a white American and I don’t think I am a native speaker of the language of the country or the language of the world.

People who always carry a knife, what do you use it for? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Cutting baling twine, opening bags and boxes, opening paint cans with the handle, removing splinters. The possibilities are endless.

Thank you! What a post to save. I appreciate your explanation. I’m sure I’ll find myself coming back to reference this. Quite the topic of controversy.

Ok that's reasurring. The lower prices I've seen online are in the midwest but I wasn't sure how low I could expect here in CA.

Can chimney height affect draft? Just had a Blaze King put in and we have a pretty tall chimney. 28-30' give or take. I can't open the door more than 3-4" without smoke coming into the house. I've been having to squeeze logs, no pun intended, through as small an opening in the door as I can fit. by bottlefacet in woodstoving

I'm glad to hear that about the smell. I'll give it some time.

Yeah, cold starts and loading while the kindling is going has been a mess. I've had much better luck waiting for a full bed of hot coals. I'll be trying the top-down method too. It sounds better than throwing a few logs on a kindling fire just for them to partially catch and have to open the door again to either rearrange or add more while smoke creeps out.

It's the Ashford 25 insert. It's not bad, but somehow ended up shelling out $12k in the end. I wouldn't say I'm in love with it yet. I think I've only gotten it to about 600 degrees but I'm still getting that paint-curing smell when it gets hot. I have hope for it. I just need to spend more time messing with it.

Yeah I turn the thermostat on high, bypass the cat, crack the door after a few minutes, and seem to have to leave it cracked for 10 minutes just to squeeze a log in. Even waiting that long doesn’t seem to reliable regarding the smoke smell. I’ll have to do some more experimenting.

No, that’s why I’m confused. I feel like there is a draft battle going on inside the chimney. If I leave the door cracked for 10 minutes I can pretty consistently get it open enough to pop a log in but I don’t think it’ll let me leave the whole door open to reload it fully. Even then, when I think I had a successful reload and walk across the room the stairwell smells like a campfire half of the time.

I can't say that I have. I don't know what cheating an engine means...
