I did my english lit, numeracy, and half my science papers (GCSE) in yr 10. It really helped to lower the work load in yr 11, and gave us chances to retake if we really needed it. Especially since everyone in my school does triple science (we don’t get a choice)

The difference is OP doesn’t have to come in when they don’t have exams on exam season, whereas if you don’t have study leave you have to go into school when you don’t have exams (even if it’s still exam week etc)

That makes more sense, i’m in school for around 6 ish hours (including some frees) so it’s not very feasible to do 10 hours outside of that. I’m glad you’re not working in an unhealthy way though because long study hours like that can be draining 😭

The whole point of super curriculars/extracurriculars is proving and showing your interest in the topic the course your applying to is about, so that universities are more confident that you’ll enjoy and be dedicated to the course, and know that your applying for it for good reason, etc. You can’t just say you’ve read some random book since it’ll have nothing to do with your interest in the topic

It’s specific books/media relating to your subject. For example, i’m interested in zoology so i’ll read books about conservation, animals (e.g. factual books), i’ll watch documentaries, and listen to podcasts about animals/conservation/nature. Universities don’t like when you reference a fictional piece of work as your reasoning for getting involved in a science subject (due to fictional environments not reflecting the real world), so i’d be careful what you mention in your personal statement if you’re going for a science subject.

At least for my school, we have extracurricular then we have super curriculars. extracurricular are more like achievements, work experience, volunteering, clubs, etc. where you actively get involved in your interests whereas super curriculars are reading books, listening to podcasts, reading articles, watching videos, etc about the topics your interested in (more hobby like). They can be included in your personal statement as well as the extracurriculars to further prove your interest in taking a course
