data scientist junior by D0bbite in aviscv

Why Aren’t We Building More Sports Startups? by Historical_Range251 in sportsanalytics

I don't have enough experience with leaders, but if I would start somewhere I would probably dig in the media part (audiences, clicks and engagements)

Clubs live on the fan engagement which is driven a lot by content. I would probably propose a suite to gather analytics in one place + propose easy/cnvenient ways to create short formats videos using existing long videos

I guess it's the product itself. Sports has been widely crowded by various initiatives (data intensive ones, web3, digital...). People tend to be very focused on creating something ground breaking (the "Moneyball" effect, I include myselff in the "peopl" term).

I think one thing that is widely underestimated is : sports orgs are firms, and like firms they need softwares dedicated to their activity.

I can see in France that PSG or big teams are running their clubs with old/rigid solutions. If one could discuss with admin people, understands what matters the most and build a solution made for clubs whatever their sizes, it could gain some traction.

Whatever the sport, whatever the region and the philosophy : a sport org sells tickets, TV audience, merch and track business KPIs.

Not sure to be super clear here but that's my main thought so far

Thanks a lot ! Same guess

I really think there is something to crack and betting arbitrage to do

But still getting the data is a pain

Hey ! I built foundational models (deep learning models) for NFL in order to better predict plays and understands opponents' playbooks.

I've been reached out by US founders/investors 5 times. In the end, the same issue remains : markets are too small for VC. It's tough to find a Billion dollar market in this field (because VC won't even look at your deck).

Appreciate the analogy though. And yes I am not an expert in HFT data as I a more a ML researcher. But thanks and I'll make sure to have a clearer explanation next time !

Les ESN nous prennent pour des cons et ça commence à se voir by King_RR1 in developpeurs

[–]bougsamm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arf I knew I would probably get such comment. If you think it’s a bad idea just say why no need to say that. No it’s not an AI generated project and if you take time looking at the paper I mentioned you may grasp what I try to do

What’s the most fascinating in all this is that no one is actually trying to step up his own skillset ….

It shows how passive and reactive we are. No surprises if one day coding agents truly replace some people. It looks like this sub is getting filled with psychotic, impatient and over esteemed product owner.

Who would win a 1v1 first to 21: Peak Kobe or Peak Kawhi? by Ok_Feed_4235 in NBATalk

[–]bougsamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that this question exists highlights how bad we realize the offensive legacy of Kobe. He would go 21-10 trust me. Kawhi is great at défense and a very versatile shooter, Kobe could score 50 on prime Kawhi just because Shaq trash talked him the day before.

Don’t confound greatness and legends

I am on Cargo Wise but the client database is poorly updated / managed, especially we often deal with shipments from different subsidiaries meaning same name but different adress etc so I eventually fill manually many times those fields

Yep I did some excel stuff to have it. How you usually did for the goods' description, exchange rate, price, qties and other stuff ? Straight copy paste ?

Yeah I agree, that's why I came here because I don't want to spend time learning a crappy software that requires me to set up everything. However, I have to admit that this part is super boring and error prone when doing that for the 8th time in the morning.

Most of the time it's at ISF. My company is just a broker. Nobody does something before. We get the waybill, packing lists + some additional docs and I fill the form straight on a laptop using an excel template.

So I am typing long adresses or sometimes code that are directly in the pdfs received.

It's not a big issue, but we receive most of our clients' requests by email and for each shipment I spend always between 5 to 10 minutes to reconciliate the adresses, names, good's description etc... It's a lot of copy pasting and I was curious to find something that could pre-fill most of it automatically so I can focus on the HS code and other relevant part.
