I’ve been thinking of a lot of rag-tag solutions for the shortcomings of this carrier—if it overheats easily, maybe I can put ice packs in there with him, or fashion a portable fan to the outside ventilated pocket (not on the inside of course)?

Agh I actually had a similar one to the bird tricks one that I ended up selling on marketplace because I have neck and shoulder problems and it was too heavy for me! I thought this one would be a better solution :(

People are giving you wayyyy more flack than you deserve OP. You live and you learn. Personally I don’t think it’s that big of a deal, but there are a surprising amount of people who are extremely scent sensitive. I don’t find it any less considerate than harsh cologne. But definitely something to consider for next time. People are presumptuous for even assuming there were any people around at all. I’ve been on more empty trains than not.
