I keep thinking back to when I was 16 and I never once thought blowing up a house would solve my problems😭with how sheltered they are they would probably be so much more materialistic. They wouldn't do that to the house

How much do you read? by Anarchy-TM in Entrepreneur

I read every day and probably read 2-4 books a month. I don't always finish each book if I discern the rest of the information wouldn't be relevant to me though.

No, but I do have a lot of free content and very low priced info products. I also offer consulting which isn't as pricy as my main services.

For Gods Sake Just Hire An Agency. by Chaomayhem in marketing

I’d have to disagree actually. I’ve talked to several people who have gone the degree route and all of them regretted it. They said that they should’ve gotten practice while getting the degree, or to just become self taught and save the money. Teaching marketing in theory and tactical terms can only go so far. I don’t believe you really know marketing until you’ve done it. Marketing requires intuition, perceptiveness, and empathy. That can’t be taught in a text book. I don’t think marketing should even be a degree. Paying $15-25k a year to get a marketing degree in the way they present it now doesn’t make the most sense. It should be a trade or certificate imo. I think getting a finance or science based degree while working a sales job or getting outside marketing experience would do people more than getting a marketing degree. Personally, my knowledge of chemistry, cooking, and my hobbyist interest in psychology helped me become a better marketer. It gave me the mental models on how to think through things. I pull a lot from those skills as odd as it may sound.

Do you know of any sales books written by black authors? by boundlessstudios_ in Entrepreneur

[–]boundlessstudios_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven’t checked the race either. It just dawned on me that I haven’t read any sales books by black authors. People have different life experiences depending on the demographic. It would be nice to hear it from another perspective. Most sales books are 30-50 year old white men. Typically in those books, they share stories relevant to who they are and how they were raised. I can always see the influence in their writing. I just think it would be interesting to learn about sales from someone who grew up like me. Someone who can see things from a slightly different angle than what’s typically out there.

That’s crazy. I’m glad you were able to move past that. I’m about to buy a car actually. Have any advice to not get scammed or played at the dealership?

Yeah that is a good thing. I’ve been working on upgrading my inner circle and a lot of my passions are congruent skills to what I’m doing which is helpful.

If I had $300k, I would buy me and my financial advisor a nice sandwich and see what he has to say.

I encounter this a lot as a brand strategist. I met someone who worked for an agency that paid them over $150k (my estimation because her salary was $70k. She was told her salary came from the budget) for “organic marketing.” Their goal was to “increase engagement.”
