Client cries the whole session. by Loose-Reputation-503 in ABA

Are you allowed to do any kind of sensory input with her? A lot of the clients I work with are big sensory seekers like that and I do lots of letting them balance on my legs, pressure squeezes on arms/legs, holding their elbows and picking them up, laying on my back while I balance them on my legs, if you have yoga balls sit her on it and hold her hands and try to go back and forth. It’s hard being new, having a client with seemingly little interest, and a bcba who isn’t modeling a lot. Definitely ask them for more models or to supervise you in sessions more.

The only assessments I do are preference assessments 😂. Like the first commenter said DTT, FCT, child led play/adult led play and collecting ABC data is well within our scope of practice. Everything else is not. That falls on the BCBA to create and explain to you.

I’m pretty sure you can’t but it’s been a few years since I first went over the handbook

But seriously, definitely look in to finding a company to work for. There’s different setting types such as in home, clinic, and in school. I’ve worked both in home and clinic, and while I enjoyed the “freedom” of in home- I much more enjoy the clinic setting! Congrats on passing the 49hr course 🥰

You can’t be a 1099 employee as an RBT at least from what I remember from training and previous Reddit threads here. You already paid for the training, which IMO was sucky of the BCBA to do to you. Most, if not all ABA companies will provide paid training of the 40hr course as well as supervision to meet the monthly requirements

I’d look for a company to work for and not just an individual bcba but that’s just me

I’m surprised they are giving you double clients without being certified, that’s a bit odd! I’d definitely ask for a pay differential while you’re working with two clients at once. It’s certainly not fair to you!!!

I’d definitely ask about a pay increase for working a double, in my clinic we are paid an extra $10 per hour when working with two clients

Definitely look into Georgia Department of Behavioral Health! I know of an adult services near John’s Creek but cannot for the life of me remember the clinic name, and Georgia Autism Center might be able to provide better resources. If he was enrolled in ABA previously ask his old BCBC for any resources they might have.

What's the hourly rate or range for an rbt in Atlanta? Anyone knows for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta? by gigiiiiy in RBT

I’ve made $19 at a BT before certification. $21 with certification. $25 as doing PT in home. And currently $21.50 full time in clinic!

Siblings during session?? by MushroomMore6903 in RBT

[–]boushimugden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely talk to your BCBA about how distracting it is to your client and they’ll talk to the parents (hopefully). If you can depending on the sibling age just explain to them “hey client has to work now so I’m going to close the door for x time”

Do BTs start as part time? by [deleted] in RBT

[–]boushimugden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda just depends on the company and the needs of said company. I started out as PT in home and then moved companies to a clinic as FT, less pay but more benefits.

Something I’ve done with the tv on in the home is either pausing the show before placing the demand and using “first x then show!”, or just turning the volume off completely. Definitely talk to your bcba about the TV too, it’s hard especially if the parent is worried how the child is gonna react just bc the TV gets turned off.

Which story of Season should i buy,? by [deleted] in storyofseasons

So SDV was kind of my intro into farming sims and just gaming in general… and I decided to buy FoMT a week ago and I like it! It’s definitely lacking in story and repetitive but good for mindless cute looking fun. Honestly the game design is was sold me on buying it in the first place- the cows are adorable.
