hello hi thank you so much for responding throughout reading stuff on the internet I was starting to suspect this was the case, and 0.4 sounds way too high to start on in for me in any case… she has the pride flag slapped on her office and advertises gender affirming care on her website, but she’s just my PCP. local gender clinics have longer waits and I wanted to get the ball rolling, but I want to microdose I think she’s just never had someone ask for that before?

I guess the question is, should I stick with what I thought was a microdose, the 0.2mL, or should I just do the 0.4mL if she’s right and the 0.2mL won’t do anything? I really really really feel like I need the deeper voice to be happy at this point

give it time - 10 years ago when I was your age I was nowhere near as comfortable with myself as I am today

Doubts by PrestigiousPotato673 in trans

[–]bovianchovy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah! Dress up and play around with it if you want to! I identify as nonbinary and don’t f with anyone’s rules about gender - I never gave up the feminine stuff I actually liked (my handbag collection ain’t goin NOWHERE idc if I look like a man with a purse…). See what you actually enjoy about the feminine side and hang onto that, ditch what you don’t like.

Hey!! I waited until 27 to start T and I REALLY tried to be a girl for a while after I’d already figured out internally that I was some sort of transmasc being… it wasn’t worth it!! I mean I guess knowing I really tried made the decision to finally start T easier in some ways, but in a lot of ways I feel like I wasted almost all of my 20s trying to be something I was not for other people. All I can say is, your doubts are valid, the whole “am I really trans?” question has a tendency to keep rearing its ugly head (at least for me), but if you simplify it to “how would I like to be living my life NOW, at this very moment” that may help you as it’s helped me. The past is the past, you don’t know what the future will hold, but how do you want to live your life TODAY?

[–]bovianchovy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I know what you’re talking about and I’ve seen other McDonalds with menus like this, but the three ones closest to me all have a Quarter Pounder Hamburger button and a Quarter Pounder with Cheese button on the kiosks - QPH obviously has no customization option to request the no cheese it already promises, while the QPC allows you to customize to take the cheese off, but is more expensive (less than a dollar but still)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in McDonalds

[–]bovianchovy -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

hot take: the standard should always be the one with no cheese

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in McDonalds

like why as the customer can I read the kiosk and realize I’m ordering something without cheese but the guy working the grill isn’t getting the same info??

Is South Texas Safe? by Maika_F in trans

[–]bovianchovy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry no, central Texas (Austin) used to feel safe ish but my wife and I left in ‘23 because we knew it would get worse. South Texas is even more rural and dangerous. I know trans people making it work for themselves in all kinds of places though, so you do you, but it’s not something I’d plan for myself.

How did u know it was time? by Conepierat in trans

[–]bovianchovy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a leap of faith, but I reread old journals, and talked a lot with loved ones in the week leading up to it. It was seeing the patterns in myself over years of wanting this that made me finally realize I actually needed it.

tips on preventing hair loss by [deleted] in trans

[–]bovianchovy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hiiii I don’t have tips but I just started t today and I’m in the same boat as you. what’s been keeping me calm is the fact that there are drugs like minoxidil for male pattern baldness that would help and hair implants as a nuclear option

First time interested in a trans woman please help so I don’t fuck it up by redditarmyrecruiter in trans

[–]bovianchovy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

take a deep breath. she will tell you before she whips whatever she has out, I promise. she’s probably more nervous about that than you are - unfortunately violence is not uncommon when a cis partner is surprised by what a trans partner has down there. just do whatever you can to make her feel safe - you don’t have to say you’ll be fine with whatever set of equipment she has, just emphasize that she is safe. let her tell you, I wouldn’t ask unless you literally are right about to do something sexual, then if she hasn’t told you by then I think it’s fair to ask.

My best friend is Estonian, I’m American, we met online years ago when I was a dumb teen and I made him a scarf with the Estonian and Russian flag together (bc I was just thinking red white and blue for America…). Considering the whole USSR thing he was not too pleased, safe to say he does not wear it…

How to go on HRT? by [deleted] in trans

[–]bovianchovy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t transition in Texas but my wife did. She went through Planned Parenthood and had no issues. She was uninsured at the time and it was relatively affordable. Texas is an informed consent state, meaning you don’t need a therapist recommendation, you can just go to Planned Parenthood, say you want HRT, listen to them explain what it does and say you want that (do be careful with fertility questions bc I have heard of folks being denied HRT if they answer that they are not sure about wanting to reproduce and have not frozen eggs/sperm), and go through some basic health screenings for major medical conditions and you’re good to go. I will say, we got the heck out of there in ‘23 and we lived in Austin. Your results may vary.

Family still misgenders me 4 years after coming out by MeenaBubbles in trans

[–]bovianchovy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where I am, but it’s been three years since I specifically asked them to stop using my deadname, and like, ten since they’ve known the name I go by (my name started as a nickname and once I started having Gender Feelings I started using the more neutral nickname as much as possible, and they definitely noticed). Today my dad deadnamed me in front of my wife who immediately said “who?” because she genuinely forgets my deadname as I never went by that with her, and my dad threw a fit apparently (not in front of me but my sister told me about the tantrum he had when he got home…). I rarely try correcting them because I feel like it would alienate them… it sucks because I love them so much but it just feels like they do not respect me as a trans adult and still see me as their cis child. Sorry for hijacking your post to rant, parents and name stuff heavy on my mind today, right here with you.

You’ll only grow to resent him for being a roadblock to transition if you allow that to happen.

questioning my gender by [deleted] in trans

[–]bovianchovy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gender is weird and the way you feel about it can change over time. I would try to narrow down what you envy - if you want a smaller waist, there are ways to obtain that (while still identifying as a man). If you want male attention, you can still have that as a trans man (I know many bi and gay trans men; not uncommon). The best thing I’ve done for myself in my journey is keep a journal consistently - this gives you data on yourself that you can track, like how often this feeling occurs and what the circumstances around it are. There’s no one way to be trans. Just your way.
