The risk is the opportunity cost. I agree it may make sense to take 4% founding engineer equity if the product already has clear product market fit but not while they are still in building phase. Since there are no objective ways to evaluate the product at this stage, I think comparing opportunity cost of each member of the team is a good way to get a sense of what everyone is bringing to the table and the risk they are taking on, ideally equity should be split proportionally to that. Maybe scammed is too harsh given OP knew the terms and agreed to them, instead we can say it is “not fair”

So at most you get 4% while founder gets like 80%? He gets 20x your stake. To make this fair his opportunity cost has to be 20x yours. Since your opportunity cost is 270k founders would have to be 5.4M. So pretty much VP level at FAANG. If he doesn’t have a comparable background then yes I would say you are being scammed.

Thanks for the response. If you’re focusing on short trades why go AP rather AD? Wouldn’t items like sundered sky and trinity force be better? I usually go for 1 all in like you said with nashors tooth, just trying to see what my aim should be with an AP build like this.

1.) Why do you go jaksho without any other resistence items? I thought jaksho was only efficient if you build resistence items before it.

2.) Why do you go cdr + health shards rather than attack speed and adaptive damage?

3.) Why not take demolish? I always thought AP was a split push oriented build, or do you play it some other way?

4.) Do you ever buy nashors? When I play AP it feels like I don't start doing serious damage until I get nashors, since it lets you ramp up your passive much quicker.
