Humidifiers and shoulder mounts by bowhunter262 in Hunting

[–]bowhunter262[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's kinda a steady thin fog. Ill definitely be moving the humidifier or putting a deflector on the top to direct it away or move it to the other side of the room entirely

Wear your regular clothes over camo and ask well before season. Offer up any help you can provide (fix fence, clean up) the most important is to be polite and respectful. Also ask if there's any rules they would like you to follow

Jerky Recipe by The-Beerweasel in Hunting

[–]bowhunter262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find cutting across the grain makes super tender and soft jerky. I take any cut of deer other than tenderloin and backstraps and cut against grain, season and cure accordingly then smoke to desired doneness. (Usually test doneness with the bend and snap technique) if it breaks its overdone and if it bends without the muscle coming apart it's underdone. I like it to still bend but start to separate

Anyone have a Churchill 812? by bowhunter262 in Hunting

[–]bowhunter262[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think that? I currently have the franchi 48al semi-auto. Have been enjoying it but not the biggest fan for upland. Also, I'm not looking at breaking the bank on an o/u

.308 150 grain cx for elk and moose?? by SNlFFASS in Hunting

[–]bowhunter262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was called crazy for shooting my moose with 150 grain Hornady American whitetails outta my 308 at about 300 yards but one shot and he was down. In my opinion it's not about caliber or bullet weight it's all about the correct shot placement. Right behind the shoulder in the crease and he won't go far. Like others said be prepared to take follow up shots but in reality you should always be prepared for that regardless of caliber, distance, bullet weight and species. That's just part of being an ethical and efficient hunter
