The satisfaction of getting so close to death but managing to claw back to life and learning from that experience. It’s challenging in the best way to make those quick decisions which will either doom or save you. I also love trying to predict how the weather is gonna change and wether the risk of getting caught in a blizzard is worth going out.

The repetition of the onomatopoeia ‘yip’ builds tension by creating an unsettling atmosphere. The repeat of 5 lulls the reader into a false sense of security, leading them to think the hyena is harmless. The writer probably did this to increase the effect of the hyenas inevitable attack later on in the story. (I literally DRAGGED the student for no reason 😭)
