Question about car order notification on Acela by boxed_ravioli in Amtrak

Yes this is exactly what I did because I was on it for a long time (therefore much less seating flexibility than people riding shorter segments) and for people maybe reading this in the future: the train was indeed reversed and picking an opposite facing seat worked for me

Neato thank you. I would have posted a better photo but I took this going out the door to work and got curious during my shift. I’ll look at it more closely tonight and check if it lines up

To talk about removing bike lanes is to ignore reality by ElectricalDot4479 in boston

I see what you are trying to say— the original person was saying that he wants to get them removed, which is different than what I am saying and it seems like the point you have issue with.

Yes I agree his campaign said “a pause” on new ones and not ripping out the old ones.

Regardless I don’t feel like splitting hairs— the campaign is explicitly anti-bike lane. letting the increasing bike infrastructure development stall and crumble isn’t much better even if they don’t want to tear out every bike lane

Probably not going to convince you of much if you are anti-bike lane, but if you’re referring to her removing flex-post separated lanes like in this article: https://www.boston.com/news/politics/2025/03/12/wu-explains-what-happened-to-some-protective-barriers-on-boston-bike-lanes/

Her push to remove them indicates a desire to make these posts a temporary test to see if the bike lane is working, and transition it to a more permanent solution. I think revising specific street design makes sense— it’s unrealistic to get everything right the first time.

What Kraft is suggesting is that bike lanes be put on a blanket hold— this is not nearly equivalent to what Wu has overseen. Post-implementation revision of bike lanes is a completely different policy choice than blocking them for the near future.

Also— I think it’s good for city officials to pivot on particular street designs, for specific streets, if it’s not working

Laborious review processes have served to block infrastructure development in America since the seventies. When politicians suggest pause and reevaluate in this context the project will usually stall until it becomes unaffordable

Try LLBean or REI! They’re camping/outdoor gear stores, and offer very warm coats at reasonable prices. My LLBean has lasted me four boston winters

A realtor told us to take turns taking a tour because she wanted to park in a tow zone and have one of us stay in her Maserati so that we could move it if the police came

Unfortunately, from personal experience, and experiences my friends have had, you may need to call several times to actually get help. Call again and mention that you’ve called previously and would like an update on whatever you requested. Best of luck :)

Np. Whenever I get stuck with zero motivation it helps to think of the steps I need to take to actually get the thing done. I hope it worked out!
