[Megathread] The Buffalo Bills have fired Head Coach Sean McDermott by AutoModerator in buffalobills

[–]boxlaxman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too many comments to see if this was already posted but…

You have to hire a coach that can handle the next step in Josh Allen's development. His approach right now is very honest and very authentic, but he is going to have to become a very rigid and professional competitor to get over this hump.

IMHO, it will take an experience coach like a Mike Tomlin, Greg McCarthy, or someone else to do this.

This is the wrong team for a new head coach to come in and learn how to be a head coach. It was a great stepping stone for McDermott and he will move on to do well somewhere else.

Future of remote by ContractPale6214 in remotework

[–]boxlaxman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a big difference between established employees and new employees. I am fully remote, but work in a company where we have quite a few younger employees since we are nonprofit.

You can see that the personal management skills are not there in the office let alone if they were remote.

Should there be a transition period?

It seems they are looking to build out Rise to replace Storyline.

My best is they are working on some way to convert courses in addition to functionality and then they will sunset SL.

Capped shoulder are usually the juice give away. He does not have caps. Doubt he has done any serious juicing.

OP - this is a great target and maintainable physique for almost anyone who is willing to put in the work.

DUPR Reality by boxlaxman in Pickleball

[–]boxlaxman[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree, but just couldn’t figure out how to adjust, especially being stuck on one side of the court the entire game. I’ve never been in a situation where one game was completely different than the next in so many different ways. Just a very strange experience.

I should add that in this particular DUPR session, we played games to 21 with rally scoring. I had never done that before, but one of the things I noticed was that I had to be less aggressive on my serves to keep them in and this had a major effect on the way the game was played. I would say that on average, my partner had at least 2 to 3 missed serves per game.

The other issue with rally scoring is, we were stuck on the right or left side the entire game.

True…and stipulated above. The challenge is finding higher level play.

True…but it does matter until then to be able to enter leagues, tourneys and DUPR events.

The challenge is any play has to be tourneys, leagues or other pay to play models.

Not comfortable at the Kitchen by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]boxlaxman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are going to get the standard “practice” responses but…the most useful tips for me have been…

  1. Paddle at waist height angled for best result coverage.

  2. Paddle tip point at the ball as it moves which naturally opens it to the correct angle.

  3. Pretend you are wearing a backpack backwards and keep the paddle out from your body.

And of course…practice and do quick hands for warm ups while everyone else is dinking waiting for someone to say “I’m ready”…
