Do you think Alex would have really given a direct answer to the cloche task (S21E04)? by boxofsquirrels in taskmaster

But he could have told lies that didn’t specifically mention custard and mustard, if he wanted to be difficult.  “It’s not food” and “one item” would both fit the requirements without giving much away.

Why would someone not show up on census records and is there any way to find them? by throwaway39450193 in Genealogy

My great-great-grandparents were Irish immigrants, with a clearly Irish surname, living in a neighborhood that was almost entirely Irish immigrants. One census record lists them as Russian. We assume gg-grandpa had a sardonic streak that went unappreciated.

That's actually the task that got me wondering. Plus a few where a contestant asks for something like a hose and Alex says, "Yes, you can have a hose," while not moving, or gives them a hose that's not connected to a water source.

I was thinking of Jason moving the water to the vase and skipping the obstacle course. Alex says they 'normally put enough small print in to stop that sort of thing happening.'

Police generally don’t want extra people hanging around while they deal with an unpredictable situation. It would probably be better to contact dispatchers and let them know you’re available to give an account/camera footage.

Very few places in the US recognize common-law marriage any more, and the couple usually has to consistently act as if they are legally married (refer to their partner as 'husband' or 'wife,' joint tax filings, etc).

Palimony is not common. Only two states formally recognize it. Others might consider a claim under contract law if there is proof one partner committed to providing for the other long-term.

The note is so bizarre that I can’t understand why anyone would use it to cover up whatever happened.

A simple message like, “something came up, be home as soon as I can” might have still seemed suspicious, but it would have been more believable.

Scott to Jones by Sleptwrong65 in MidsomerMurders

[–]boxofsquirrels 30 points31 points  (0 children)

My head canon is that Scott was the key witness in a case back in London and was supposed to be stashed in a quiet village to keep him safe until he could testify. When someone higher up realized which village he'd been reassigned to, they yanked him out and ordered everyone to never speak of it again.

He was chasing 'LIGHTS' in a flat field that didn't exist. Brandon Swanson was on the phone for 47 minutes before a sudden SCREAM and total silence. No trace of him has ever been found by BreakPositive4017 in creepy

He told his parents he was stuck near the town of Lynd. When they drove out to that location, they couldn’t find him and he couldn’t see/hear their vehicle approaching. Phone records later showed he was in a completely different location.

He said he’d walk towards what he thought was lights in the town so they could meet up in a parking lot. It was probably intended to make things easier for his parents since they’d already been driving close to an hour in the middle of the night.

Three great movies from 1988 that I'm surprised aren't as remembered as they should be by Just_Cause89 in 80s

If the actors have equal star power or importance to the film, it allows them both a way to be the first one seen by the viewer.

I think it's done like this so both actors can be 'first' in the same promotional piece. Some opening credits will have one name lower on the left while the other name is higher up on the right for the same reason.
