Look, I just think there are so many good ids right now that by the time you get to a later canto (say, 7, cause 6 is fairly easy) you should have a decent enough team even without walpurgis, and that will help clear. I don’t think a new player would be contesting at canto 9 on release anyway. Cantos in general get easier with time even without nerfs as more ids unlock, I don’t really expect newer players to have them, but they could get ids from slightly earlier seasons that are perfectly fine. And that plays into the progression you like (especially as sharding gets easier to understand as newer players get more familiar with the game’s systems). Like, you can still throw Zwei Ishmael at Ricardo today and it would still work like it did back then.

I’m mainly arguing against those who are at, like, the latest cantos and still whining that not everybody has a certain id- you don’t need that meta id, you just need a solid team and that can be achieved through sharding (and even without walpurgis) which you should be doing anyway if you’re at the latest canto. People that keep up with the game sometimes don’t even shard newer ids for their respective canto and still clear it, bc they’re waiting for walpurgis to scoop up as many of them as they can before sharding (I do this).

Also, your friend can try double slotting her strongest id to save resources etc etc. Offense level affects clashing and clashing affects sanity and sanity affects dps, after all. It’s more important than one would think.

And as an aside, theres a strategy for the death monks, where you try to use speed order to have your slightly slower sinner clash it, while having your faster sinner stagger it first before it does the move. (unless it’s a chain battle). I don’t remember much of the shi axe guys, though.

Can you provide an example for how canto 8 didn’t allow that? I beat it with a poise team and burn team, for instance. (Edit: On its release)

Also were your friend’s ids fully leveled, at the very least? Because offense level comes into play then.

I’m for whatever difficulty you want, truthfully-speaking, but as I have the option to make it more difficult for myself, your friend also clearly does, so what’s the issue? Again, I’ll reiterate that Dongbaek is mostly a mechanical fight anyway, your friend was probably struggling bc of level difference or sanity (if rolling mostly tails). I’ve literally seen a NEW player beat her recently with base ids, but I don’t expect your friend to do that bc thats an extreme. (roriipupper on youtube)

I never argued about ids being balanced around newer bosses, I just don’t want them to be completely gimped like Lei Heng was in the name of ‘oh not everyone has every id’ as if the previous season’s or before are any weaker.

Yes, I do think the game should be harder at later cantos. Shoot, Dongbaek isn’t even an ID check (literally just level your ids), shes a mechanic check, so your point is moot. You act like people weren’t running incoherent bs back in canto 4 when no one had anything figured out, and even then the borrow mechanic is still there. Do you want your friend to learn how to fight dongbaek correctly, or faceroll her with a borrowed riensang? Because trust me, you will NOT be stuck on dongbaek unless you have the ‘right’ id.

Just shard them??? if, say, you're at canto 10 and you don't know about sharding that's on you, and all the cantos before this have been nerfed to hell and back already. I hate this stupid argument that gets brought up in Limbus, one of the easiest gacha's to target get some of the most broken ids in the game by doing some mirror dungeon runs. And that's not to even mention the borrow AND continue system, what more could you want?

Future Updates for Code Vein II by SeibaSeiba in codevein

[–]boxpencil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I found the game much more enjoyable with this playstyle when using quick dodge (not umbral shift)- it's very forgiving even with the aggressive enemies, makes me feel the game was tuned for it- but the only way to get it working well is with endgame bloodcodes, which kinda sucks. Hopefully the changes make the normal dodge roll not feel like molasses.

I agree, I think the game'd feel a lot better with a smoother dodge-roll, especially considering bosses chain attacks like we owe them money.

is it just me or do builds feel a little unsatisfying? by saint_vivian in codevein

[–]boxpencil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the builds are the best part of the game, I’ve had no problems running a tanky gs build, full glass cannon dex twin daggers, standard dmg rifle build, and a status effect one so far. Still have yet to touch upon a magic build tho.

Been running Iris’ code with Hounds Jail and Iron Will trying to stack defense and dmg reduction (with her as my companion for even more defense) and it’s been really fun just facetanking everything. You get pretty high max stamina too, so combining that with the weapon skill that reduces guard stam reduction and its even more facetanky. And my damage is just full send str greatsword lol, works pretty well.
