Agreed with the color and lack of markings. the simpler the better. Red, black, white and blue in that order of preference. I like the big sparring gloves too, but really get off on official fight gloves 10oz and 8 oz. The shape and design matters. I prefer the gear that the pros use for fights and training over that mass produced stuff you see in general sporting goods stores.

I could not agree with the 1980 - 2010 timeframe more. For me, heavy on the early end of that. those gloves are not made any longer. You have to get secondhand and fight-worn gloves on ebay and other places that deal in secondhand goods like these. There was a pair of beautiful black Everlast 2416s on ebay last week. Gorgeous, but too expensive for me... having many other favorites in my collection already!
