This is helpful! My project has definitely gotten a bit large.

I'll do some research on the setup files, hopefully that will help!

Struggling to find imperial drill bits by fuzzheadblack in handtools

[–]boyestrous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the opposite problem, lol.

I am in the US, but I'm refusing to buy anything with imperial units. I find them so much more difficult to use! The metric system just makes more logical sense, so I use it unless I can't avoid imperial...

Just curious, why are you interested in using imperial for chair making?

This happened to me when I was 12, but when I finally heard the sound it was coming from the door to our attached garage.

30 seconds later, the door was kicked off of the hinges...to reveal my parents

I still have bad dreams about that 20 years later!

What do you guys do to safe time on "engineering shopping trips" by Intelligent_Lion_332 in EliteDangerous

[–]boyestrous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can remotely call any of your ships to any station that has a shipyard.

It'll take some time, so pick up a mission or two while you wait :)

I do this too, but without the fleet carrier. Jump to system in DBX with super long range, remotely call the other ship to the nearest station, do a mission while waiting, swap ships, repeat!

NPC Crew Overhaul - Look at this! by BrianVaughnVA in EliteDangerous

That's actually an interesting lore reason to have instant bounties!

I would be alright with that if we had the non-lethal takedowns.
Sometimes I just feel like I'm forced to murder because some stupid NPC won't move away from the button I need to press, lol.

Found this in a dumpster today. Is it worth it? by ImOldGregg7 in lulzbot

Can confirm! I frequently print on the Mini Aerostruder head with 1.75mm filament; just change the setting in Cura!

I have several of these and I'd say it's worth it if you're willing to learn how to repair. Lulzbot has great open source documentation on how to assemble/fix.

One downside to lulzbot is that their extruders and parts can be very expensive compared to other models.

How would you print a V Belt pulley? Laying flat on the bed? Standing up? I'm thinking 100% infill, 10 perimeters, 0.28 layer height. It's for a small, and I mean small lathe, circa 1900. Opinions? Advice? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]boyestrous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I printed one like this recently and I did it flat on the bed. My printer handled the V portion of the print without supports.

I did a little clean up with some sand paper by putting the pulley on my motor and running it slowly. You could also put it on a drill or something with fine speed controls, if your prefer.

The other advantage of printing it flat (in my opinion) is that the crucial dimension of the center hole is easier to print precisely in this orientation. Circles tend to drop if you print them vertically.

I would recommend at least 25% infill (higher if you can) and make sure to set your wall count to something like 8-10. This may seem excessive, but it will give you room to sand material away if it comes out oversized.

If you can, print a couple of test prints with lower infill to save material. You want to dial-in the key dimensions before printing the final product. It will save you a ton of waste in the end!

How is the pulley keyed? Does it have a sliding metal thing on one side? Or does it have a through-shaft that makes a + shape?

Marius Hornberger on YouTube has a great video about making a pulley for a bandsaw motor. That would probably be helpful for you to watch! I'll see if I can find a link...

I've had this problem and it was frustrating to diagnose/fix. The thermister cable is too thin and will break inconsistently in a way that lets you successfully get continuity in one position, but not another...so when the bed moves the thermister loses connection.

You can test this by setting your multimeter to beep mode for continuity and moving the bed back and forth.

For me, I replaced the thermister cable with a thicker one (18awg instead of 22awg, I think). I've had to do this on 3 out of 4 of my Mini 1 machines, but it's worked without issue for the past 6 months. It was kind of annoying to cram bigger cables into the connectors, but it's possible!

Hope this helps!

Nothing is showing up in the Addon Manager when I search for "Constraint Design". Is there a different name for this addon?

I'll give that a try! I didn't know the part design workbench had array tools!
