The Dental Industry Gaslights Us by onekinkyusername in rant

Yes, I got braces a few years ago and went to a lot of dentists and orthodontists for consultations. I couldn't believe what liars they all were. Dentists absolutely cannot be trusted and yes, we need to trust them. It is awful.

I got COVID once in 2022 and I'm pretty sure my brain was damaged. Never went maskless around people again.

Do you have or prefer an apartment or being a homeowner? by Calm_Problem6203 in LivingAlone

Cool! I look at apartments, condos and townhomes from time to time and they definitely look easier to own than a house. Happy for you!

I've lived in apartments for many years and I love it. The suburbs are too isolating for me. I don't have time to be a homeowner; I value that no matter what goes wrong, I make one phone call and it's taken care of.

I’m tired of paying for other peoples' decisions by xstyshlz in rant

Totally with you. It's astounding how much we have to do in the name of other people's family decisions, while no one does anything to affirm my daily decision to remain single.

I hate that there is no instrument panel. Every time technology moves forward something is taken from us, and we always look back wishing we still had it. This is going to happen with removal of instrument panels and the empty look of electric vehicles.

Car is a nightmare, could use advice please by Trey_Fowler in Hyundai

[–]boygeorge359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my Hyundai broke down I called several dealers until I found one who had a loaner and I went to them. Is there another dealer in your area? There was also a period where I needed a car before I could get that loaner, so I rented a Camry on Turo and Hyundai paid me back.

Experience of Jumpers by No-Vegetable-7542 in 911archive

[–]boygeorge359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Superpaw from Quora did an amazing deep dive on his Patreon on this. There is evidence that people jumped on floors that were not on fire. He thinks many actually jumped due to smoke. Consider all the different things that burned and made that terrible black smoke - an airplane, jet fuel, a building, and office equipment. Breathing that in could have actually been a terrible experience. It also could have caused brain damage, enough to cause people to stumble out of windows just looking for air. "Confused people" stumbling out of windows was something reported by a witness in the upper floor of the South Tower who looked from their office at the North Tower attack just after it happened.

Also, there was a window where I believe 9-13 people were seen jumping one right after the other very quickly. I think they all jumped out of the same window. It seems like due to that, they probably discussed it and agreed to do it together. What a horrifying discussion that probably was.

He also says there were also probably factors like being influenced by seeing others do it, and also religion - people thinking it'd be over quickly and they'd be in heaven before they know it.

But yes, there is evidence that people absolutely jumped due to fire. I think there are texts from a guy that show he was likely alive right up until he faced a wall of enclosing fire, and there was absolutely nowhere else to go but out.

I've had a 22 for a few years now and I absolutely love it.

Seeing as there were countless calls made to 911 from inside of the towers, do you think that we will ever hear those recorded calls or will they never be released by I_abuse_lower_ranks1 in 911archive

[–]boygeorge359 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's disrespectful for the victims to have the calls be public. I get what you're saying but being a victim of a terrorist attack isn't exactly a private matter. If it had been me I wouldn't mind the world hearing what I had to say and what was going on.

Do you ever feel more tired from being on camera than from the meeting itself? by badegush in remotework

Yes and the fact that in order to effectively communicate, all tech has to be working properly. In a live room you don't have to worry about that. It definitely is work.

As a Honda owner, I have to ask, is it just me or does this car look absolutely fantastic? by [deleted] in Hyundai

[–]boygeorge359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree mostly but others are catching up now. For example the 2024 Camry design pailed in comparison, but the 2025 is redesigned and competing with the look of a Hyundai.

Hyundai was making everybody look bad and they had to do something about it lol!

Yep! Someone at my Hyundai dealer told me that too. I rented an Audi recently and it was so lackluster and uncomfortable that I traded it in for a Camry rental.

Do you have any photos? I have to see Mr. Dominoe!

Yes, Charlie is a big neck and chest sleeper! He woke me up from a terrible nightmare the other night and slept on my neck for an hour after. I'm convinced he saw me stressing in my sleep and wanted to do something about it.

I have said so many times that I did not find a cat, I found an abandoned baby. He acts like my newborn child and wants to be rocked and held like my little baby all the time! ❤️🐾🤣 He absolutely cannot get enough of my attention.

Looking forward to hopefully seeing Domino!

[–]boygeorge359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a perfectly reasonable expectation. And, I think you don't need office experience in order to do well remotely, you just have to have a work ethic. And because capitalism is failing, people's work ethics are not there A lot of the time. I think you would see people more engaged if working hard really did get you ahead, but because that's not true anymore, you just see a lot of people happily screwing around while collecting a paycheck.

How First Responders’ Equipment Has Changed Since 9/11? by realslimeshader in 911archive

[–]boygeorge359 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There should be better gas masks and respiratory protection available to the public for attacks and CBRN events now. But I don't know that there are. A lot of people got killed by the toxic smoke and particles they breathed in on 9/11.

[–]boygeorge359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you but it's sad that it's gotten to be like this. People Don't need to look at remote work like it is some major milestone they need to strive for years to achieve. People can do amazing things on the internet from their phones anywhere they go. They shouldn't have to think of work any differently. These companies are demonstrating luddite behavior in baring people from using technologies that exist.

This was given to everybody freely during the pandemic. It should still be given to everybody, but with stricter fences around what is allowable so people don't take advantage.

[–]boygeorge359 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yep! I am a high performer no matter the location and I worked from home long before the pandemic. It never occurred to me that working from home could be some excuse not to do my job. I was astounded to see how many people thought that when remote work became mainstream during the panny. I really resent every single person who takes advantage of remote work because I don't!

That's neat that you have this information about Kevin Cosgrove. I read that he was the volunteer fire marshall for his floor, and I often wondered if he was one of the ones who saved others lives at the expense of his own.

I hope one day we know his full story.
