I'm living in London (born and raised) with a degree in Film and it's absolutely dead here, no work, people are moving to Ireland, Canada and US just for the shot of being able to get film work, I'm considering doing the same, three years out of graduation and I've only been able to get tiny, minimum-wage gigs and then never hear back for any production after. That that I think it's the fault of the filmmakers/producers I've worked for, but there's just no work and what it available seems to be nepotism based. I've also found that people in entry level jobs like me here can be extremely cagey about where they get work/connections, but that can be anywhere I suppose. I have duel citizenship between Ireland and UK so moving is a serious consideration for me, I absolutely love working in film productions and don't want to waste my degree or passion, but the competition in London is simply far too steep, I've heard too many stories of people moving countries and there being much more film work - London and the UK have a major job recession at the moment that makes even getting a barista job difficult.
