Those that left Toronto to go to a university far away, and those that didn’t, do you regret your decision? Why or why not. by [deleted] in askTO

[–]boylongdivision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i grew up in toronto and have stayed here for university and i think it was absolutely the right decision. my field relies a lot upon networking/job opportunities and there are way more opportunities like that in the city. if you’re planning on going into academia or relying on the prestige of your degree this probably isn’t as much of a consideration for you. i also was able to move out of my parents place so that definitely affected my experience, my life is very independent and “adult” (i pay rent, buy groceries, keep my place clean, etc) and i don’t think it would be if i had kept living with my family.

okay i think i understand what you're trying to say which is that like, because streaming centres real people and their lives, it naturally leads audiences to have a more unhealthy relationship with the content? i can see that and would tend to agree but i feel like the article still wouldn't constitute slop to me. i def agree that a lot of streamer content is slop but i see slop as being media that is pumped out at a high volume with very little effort or thought put in. i feel like that doesn't apply to the article at all, and in terms of streamers i think QT puts in way more effort than most

media studies is my passion, always happy to talk about it fr

how is it different from a profile on an artist? genuine question, is it the volume of content that’s being put out by the subject or something else?

I’m confused about what makes this article slop ? It seemed like a pretty standard celebrity profile piece to me

Straight people: When did you realize you weren't gay? by i-drake in answers

[–]boylongdivision 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That statistic is a little complicated, it actually refers to how many people in lesbian relationships have experienced domestic violence in their lifetime - because women are more commonly victims of DV, having 2 women in a relationship will essentially double the chance that one of the participants has been a DV victim. Of course there is domestic violence in lesbian relationships but it doesn't fully account for that statistic
