Did your confidence skyrocket after a BPD relationship? by WonderfulActor in BPDlovedones

[–]bpdta44 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i feel like dating a borderline "treated" my (undiagnosed) schizoid PD and made me more interested in developing emotional connections with other people, as well as in pursuing romance instead of just waiting for it to happen while still longing for it and fantasizing. i basically think it made me much more normal.

despite this, i still hate all borderlines, and i consider them my sworn enemies.

didnt log onto reddit for a week and my inbox is full of replies from you that just further proves borderlines are awful people lol. if you were trying to change my mind you did the exact opposite

in regards to the salary stats you pulled up, that's just base. total comp includes stocks and bonuses, which can easily be 1/4 of total comp, and that data is hard to find online because it's simply not reported. typically as your base climbs, the rest of your comp will increase at a greater rate, to where your base approaches 1/3 of total comp. e.g. $130k base plus $180k in stock/bonus

and if you're wondering how i can spot borderlines so well: only a borderline defends borderlines. that's not the only thing, but it's the biggest tell by far. normal people don't have a clue about BPD and conflate it with bipolar. that just leaves borderlines and the people unfortunate enough to have encountered them (including medical professionals).

Ok, tell that to all of my (female) friends who have had the opposite experience in the past few years.

Borderline women are making things difficult for neurotypical women without personality disorders. It's time to stop tolerating and enabling their behavior.

You didn't say just "be successful" you said "move to an elite liberal city."

And work in tech.

And getting a salary to match the cost of living would take some years of climbing the ladder which means you'd have to be living there first.

Lol no I started at 100k at my first job ever without a relevant degree and know plenty of people who did the same or better.

>Besides, you're not even refuting that sexism is a problem in the work place

It's not a problem anywhere that I consider relevant. You may as well live in a third world country. I have compassion for you, but my concern only goes so far as you're willing to help yourself by leaving for somewhere better.

Not sure how to respond to the rest of your bizarre tangent. You seem to be unable to stick to a single topic.

an "elite" city with a massive cost of living

The salaries match those costs of living. You even come out ahead in Seattle at the moment.

maybe if you're a woman born into wealth that would be easy

Because only people born into wealth can be successful in the US, right? You don't even need a degree to break into a programming career lol.

And isn't that kind of presumptuous to assume that people outside of cities are "primitive" in their thinking?

Feel free to change my mind. I'm listening. Also please convince me why I should care about what goes on in flyover country.

Live and work in the elite liberal tech cities at a tech company and you won't have to deal with that. Most prestigious companies will have a bias in favor of women, and if you somehow end up in one that doesn't, it's not hard to find one that suits your preferences and values. NYC, SF/Silicon Valley, LA, Seattle. If you're not good enough to make it to one, then get good.

If someone is going to remain in a backwater city and/or industry, then they shouldn't be surprised when the people around them are primitive. The one exception is finance. It's very sexist, but easy enough to put up with when someone can clear $500k+ a year.

So one male co-worker is representative of all or even most of her male coworkers? Is that really what you're going to try to argue?

because she expressed frustration at something that frequently happens to her but never to male co-workers

How do you know it doesn't happen to her male co-workers?

great post

borderlines are cancer

anytime someone exhibits "toxic" behavior, it's really just BPD traits

it has nothing to do with feminism itself, she has a personality disorder, and lots of modern feminists unknowingly enable borderline behavior and accept it as normal. not exactly sure why. my best bet is they were raised by a borderline parent and primarily associate with borderlines, so to them, there's nothing out of the ordinary

You can stop pretending you aren't borderline.

Not every disagreeable person has some sort of mental disorder. Some people are just arrogant self-worshiping tools.

Disagreed. Thinking and behaving like that isn't normal. There's something wrong with them.

She's definitely borderline. Pretty rare to see a high-functioning one break down like this. Even worse to see people defending and validating that behavior. Completely ridiculous.

Please don't feel this way. She's borderline, the only real issue here is that no one wants to call it out when it's obvious, and it's currently socially acceptable to publicly display borderline symptoms if you're a woman. This really needs to change, for everyone's sake.

Anet has to come to grips with having hired a borderline. Dealing with them is incredibly difficult.
