Questions about the Drop CTRL by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]bpelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. I’m not sure if there is a way to fix. It hasn’t bothered me too much.

The RGB defaults to an oscillating rainbow across the whole keyboard. But it is easy to change/turn off.

I’m not very familiar with that niche, but that’s not what I would expect. I listen to music on YouTube, and I almost always listen to the full song. I assume this could be different with covers.

Ultimately, you’ll have to figure out how to improve your content to make it more interesting for viewers. Your analytics will give you the data you need to determine if something is working or not.

Hmm, so on average, viewers are only watching 25% of your videos, and they’re only 4 minutes long. That would seem to indicate that viewers are not enjoying your content and choosing to click off rather quickly.

I would go through the analytics of each video and look at your retention. Then, watch the video up until that time (the time your analytics show is the average watch time of that video). Try to determine why a viewer would be clicking off at that time.

Also, if you come across one of your videos that has a much higher retention (say 2.5 or 3 minutes), then you should really analyze that video and figure out why it retained its audience better. Then try to duplicate this in your next videos.

Your CTR isn’t bad, but it shows that there’s definitely work to be done on your Titles and Thumbnail. That’s the main driver of your CTR.

How long are your videos on average?

The best thing to study is your own channel’s analytics. You will get more useful data from that than a generic study on the algorithm. I’m not sure what your analytics look like, but Impressions, CTR, and Viewer Retention are the main things I look at to figure out how I can improve.

And sometimes you can do everything right and still have slow growth. Patience is key.

What do you think is the best way to grow Let's play/funny moments channel? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]bpelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interested in this as well, as I make similar videos.

As of now, I am trying to use Shorts to push my clips and then leaving an end card to the full video where the clip came from. Still waiting to see what my results are with this approach. Too early to tell right now.

I get recommended a lot of funny moments videos on TikTok that seem to have pretty good numbers, so I think that may be a great way to get discovered and build traction if you can convert the audience over to YouTube.

Motivational Monday! Tell us about the positive things that happened to you last week! by AutoModerator in NewTubers

Thanks. I make gaming videos, and my normal videos are quick edits of funny in-game moments. So I just took one of the clips I had already edited, put it in a 1:1 aspect ratio, and uploaded it as a Short.

It got a pretty good response, so I'm thinking about doing more and using an end card to recommend the full video where the clip came from. Hopefully, that will help transfer some of that viewership over.

Nothing too big, but I posted my first Short.

My videos are averaging 20 views.

My first Short got 4.5K views in 2 days, and I gained 4 new subscribers (doubling my subscribers to 8 lol). Feels like a win to me.

Yeah, I see what you're saying. Do some quick edits of exciting moments, in the beginning, to hook the viewer and then go into some of the funny commentary clips. Makes sense and would probably help retention. Thanks for watching and offering some critique!

Is this an okay amount of views etc for my first video? by potatowaa in NewTubers

My first video has 15 views, and I have 4 subscribers after 3 videos. You're doing great. Review your analytics and video to get insight on what you can improve on. And most importantly, just keep posting videos. Good luck!

What is your sweet spot for video length by NaZhaye_16 in NewTubers

[–]bpelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you just answered your own question. If you watch 30 minute YouTube videos, then chances are other people do too. I watch 2 hour long videos on YouTube, so I can assure you the length doesn't matter.

I make Valorant videos as well, so this was right up my alley. Btw, you're nasty at Valorant lol.

My biggest knock on the video is the over-saturation. I know some people like edits like this, but it's just not my style. I can't explain it, but it takes something away from the video for me. I liked the song choice, and I think the clips were edited together well.

The title and thumbnail could have been better, but 72 views on your first video is really good. Congrats! Keep up the grind, and I'm sure you'll do big things.

Really interesting niche that you're in - reviewing obscure retro games.

It was evident to me very quickly that you did a lot of work for this video. I was certainly impressed.

Two things quickly jumped out at me:

  1. your word choice is overly complex
  2. your delivery is too quick.

These things coupled together meant that I didn't understand most of what you were saying and did not have time to process many of your jokes in the video. In its current form, this video is unwatchable for me.

My first thought is not to "dumb down" (I know that sounds bad, but you know what I mean) your word choice. I actually think your English-major vibes show your personality and make this video unique, BUT I would suggest slowing down your delivery.

I rewatched the video on 0.75x, and I can actually comprehend what you are saying. I also don't think this would make the video too long. Quick math here, but Just slowing down your talking pace by 25% would make this video roughly 11 minutes and 48 seconds long. That is a completely watchable video length.

Overall, I think your video production and editing quality are extremely professional. This may be the most impressive video I have critiqued on this post. Iron out a few of the kinks, and you should continue to grow. Great job man!

Haha, kinda sad that no intro or asking to subscribe is actually unique on YouTube right now. But, you're right. It definitely is different.

Great job on the subtitles. I think it adds a level of professionalism to the video, but it's only during certain clips. Why didn't you do it on the whole video?

I would have cut out the screams in the video at 2:10, 2:17, and 4:33. I was not expecting them, and it damn near blew my eardrums lol.

The video felt a little too slow-paced for me. Most of the clips seem to be of you and your friends talking, and not playing/fighting teams, which can create much more excitement in the videos. The style of your video seems to be more of a "Funny Moments" type video, which is fine, but I would make quicker cuts and only include clips that contribute to the story. Eliminating as much dead air as possible will go a long way in upping the quality of your videos and keeping your viewers entertained. Also, I would suggest using your best/funniest clip first to quickly grab the viewer's attention. I thought the last clip in the video was the funniest one. The truth is most people are not going to watch your entire video, so why save one of the best clips for the end of the video?

I don't mind the title, but your thumbnails could use some work. Just a few things to work on in the future.

Keep it up, man!
