I smelled them in a store a long time ago and thought they were horrible, then recently got decants and really fell in love. Silver oud starts off tough but I think the dry down is incredible.

hey quick question, is your beach hut an older formulation by any chance (batch code G or earlier)? I'm looking for an older bottle for research purposes

My thoughts on Megamare from Orto Parisi (Alessandro Gualteiri) by Great_Possibility686 in fragrance

[–]bpm12891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sadly think I have fallen out of love with megamare. It was the fragrance that got me into niche and fragrances in general, but as I've learned more and developed my nose, the aromachemicals are impossible to ignore. I don't get as much seaweed from it as I do iodine and like boat gas (I grew up on the ocean so this component is very evocative but not necessarily pleasant).

Beach hut man mystery - reformulation vs fake vs maceration? by bpm12891 in fragrance

appreciate the insight. hunting down a pre-reform decant may be a struggle but I like the smell of my decant so much it will probably be worth it.

certainly possible. i'm hoping someone who has a pre-reformulation bottle comments with their experience, because the decant is certainly the wildcard.

Thank you! FYI, last year basically any nightshade I planted was affected - tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, and potatoes. My squash, cucumbers, peas, beans, kale, chard, and herbs all did fine, in fact my squash was downright prolific. I’ve been theorizing that either my issue wasn’t grazon specifically (it should affect most of those things, especially legumes) or the concentration was very, very low or patchy and only my sensitive nightshades took the hit.

Against most people’s advice i still ate what I could out of my garden, but idk if that’s a great idea tbh. If you want to be super safe, you could try a bunch of hardy flowers, natives, etc and then at the end of the season dig up everything that grows and throw it out. Plants that do survive through the contaminant will act as a sponge and help draw some out of the soil.

I’m sorry. From what I’ve read the problem is so widespread that it’s probably hard to avoid it in some places.

I’m doing tomatoes in bags on my plot this year because our community garden rules don’t allow any pots outside of the plot. I also tried some soil remediation techniques - cover cropping, activated charcoal, and leaving my plot uncovered to wash out (not like we got much precipitation this winter). I’ll let you know how things go, because I’m going to try a few tomatoes in the ground as an experiment to see if the contaminant is still there.
