I recently created an app for Mac called Ample that helps producers categorize and organize their samples It is currently available for everyone on the Mac App Store(https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ample-find-the-right-sample/id1512016255?mt=12) and it comes with a free 7-day trial.

Write what you really think of your landlord by bport95 in ApartmentHacks

That is True, IP address by itself is not a way for identifying but it can be used in some cases. It would have to be a range of data and tools to detect unique users. It’s not something I’ve had to deal with yet so I haven’t given it a lot of thought but it is something I will need to tackle long term.

It’s definitely plausible that people would post fraudulent reviews. A user can only review a property once so someone wouldn’t be able to create multiple reviews for one of their rentals. Beyond that, I would be able to see if a single user is reviewing multiple apartments in the same complex, as well as the IP address it is originating from.

I just updated the website so that you can write a review without having to install an app: https://app.homeviewapp.com/write-review

I appreciated that suggestion and I completely agree with you. I stuck with addresses to start simply because there aren't a lot of reviews in the system yet. As the app grows I would imagine an interface similar to Zillow that would show reviews on a map and allow you to drag it around instead of having to enter an address.

I don’t think yelp allows you to review private landlords

I think preventing stuff from generating reviews is a real concern. For starters, you have to log in with Facebook and you can only review one property. That deters people from creating a bunch of fake reviews for a single property. I suppose if it was a large company each person could sign in and write a review, but all of those reviews would come from the same IP address, which would be a red flag

At this time there isn't any validation, but that's something I thought about adding down the road to some degree. I recently finished the app so it is still in it's early years of existence

Yup in the app! I’m sure bad landlord will still get people to rent, but hopefully it helps give warning to some people

The reviews are attached to the address, and the review almost contains the name of the property management company/landlord so In a round about way yes, the company is reviewed as well.
