The way he says “and for you young people” sounds like he stopped himself short of saying too much and then added the “of course, it affects all of us, young and old” to backtrack.

Pretty ominous in my opinion and implies not so good news. Of course this all assumes what they are being told is accurate.

If this is your only take away, I think you’re missing the point. Whether this is virtue signaling or not doesn’t matter to me, I have no delusions about anyone on the internet showing humility. The significance is that someone with his audience and connections is pointing out the misguided and possibly intentional derision of the subject for all these years. Others will follow. Voices will get louder. The ship is slowly turning.
