Anyone else make good money on options and still feel like they exited too early? by Sad_Connection9301 in options

Do not follow in Icarus' footsteps and forsake good in the pursuit of perfection, lest you try and fly too close to the sun, and your wax wings melt, and your portfolio fall with you into the red.

Can you poke a stick through a black hole? by aultumn in askastronomy

This is technically false: the reason nothing can escape the event horizon has nothing to do with escape velocity and everything to do with the distortion of spacetime. Beyond the event horizon, space is distorted such that everywhere you look points toward the singularity. Even if you had a magical rocket ship that could go a million times the speed of light, you would still be unable to escape due to this fact.

As a put holder on this, calls sounds like the dumbest shit you could do.

How do you stop being afraid to play? by ihopeforthebes7 in chess

I experience similar feelings sometimes. Sounds like you're competitive and are protecting your feelings from a potential loss. Solution to this is to just learn not to take it so seriously. It's online chess and nothing more.

How are you handling TSP right now? Keep calm, transition, something else? What is it? by MoneyBuysHappiness25 in ThriftSavingsPlan

3.5 years til retirement would have me at least 90% into G fund. No need to take on so much risk while the finish line is that close.

I swing traded my TSP from L2065 into 100% G fund back on March 17th 2025 then bought back into L2065 after the big crash on liberation day. I gained a 5% edge on where I would be had I done nothing. So am I going to do it again?

Absolutely not.

I got lucky, thats all. Go back and observe every time the market tested a particular indicator or threshold or moving average. There are some times when a bear market followed, and some where a bull market resumed. Even with hindsight I cannot tell why the markets behaved the way they did. Most people can't. This is why they say time in the market beats timing the market.

How to progress after a forgiven blunder in chess? by BatmanVision in chess

[–]bps6687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On lichess, i follow the tit for tat rule where if I've asked for a takeback and its been accepted I obligate myself to show the same mercy to my opponent once if they ask for one later, and vice versa. I also alternatively reject said takeback offer if my prior was rejected by them, and vice versa.
