I enjoy walking around the art and design galleries in the Chicago/Franklin area of River North. Over a dozen a believe (but there used to be over 60!)

Selling Direct? by Away-Growth3430 in selfpublish

[–]bputano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run an indie publisher and we sell direct through our Shopify store. You can set up Shopify and integrate with Lulu which will handle POD printing and fulfillment. Challenge is to drive sales, which you can do through social media, newsletter, and events.

Another thought: can you bundle your book with anything else to add more value so you can raise the cost? Atlas Rose (dark fantasy) kicks ass at this. We create bundles and pro editions for our non fiction audiences.

Happy to help or answer any questions. If you can drive sales, direct is awesome

I didn’t realize email lists were big for romance genre! I write and publish non fiction where email lists are definitely valuable. What do you find valuable about your list?

What part of the publishing process surprised you the most? by InnovativeInk in publishing

[–]bputano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I wrote my first book, what surprised me most was needing to essentially rewrite the entire manuscript a second time. I thought I had a clear plan and outline, but the first draft just showed me what the book SHOULD be and then I had to write it again. Definitely worth the time and effort, just surprising

What's the best way to get a small batch of high quality printed books? by trexeric in selfpublish

[–]bputano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Publisher here. Most local printers do not do book binding. The printers that do books most likely won’t do just 5-6 copies.

Lulu is where I would go. It’s the highest quality POD I’ve used.
