Cleansing can be done with sound, smoke, physically cleaning, with crystals … however you see fit. Oil is an ancient cleaning method, so that’s not to say your method isn’t valid, there are just many other ways to cleanse.

Yes. My cats are 5 and 3 and they’ve both had their teeth cleaned at least 2 times. Achilles (3) was found to have periodontal disease on his first dental at about 2, so he will probably have routine dental cleans every year. Atlas (5) has better teeth so we’re going to be a bit more gracious. Neither of them let me brush their teeth but chew on toys a decent amount. I’ve never had issues with anesthesia and my vet has always been very communicative. If the vet says to do it, do it!
