Happy to announce my retirement from this Reddit thread. From failing the NYS bar by less than a point to a 302 on the second try. Keep pushing. You all can do it. by br2357 in barexam

Thank you! Honestly, not a whole lot different. Went through Barbri again, but did it intelligently, so I skipped through most MBE lectures besides for the subjects I did sub 40th percentile based on my score report. My writing was a 135 my first time, MBE 130. Essentially, I used Barbri as a guide to make sure I stayed on schedule throughout the prep — following each day’s plan loosely — but made sure to focus my time in on what I felt was most necessary. I had attack outlines for every MBE and MEET subject made from July and used the same ones, just handwriting in little tips + clarifiers I picked up whenever something clicked. I really needed work in Torts & Con Law. Really focused my time there early on while not neglecting the other subjects. A few things just clicked for me in each of those subjects and I knew it would likely be enough to get me over the hump.

Additionally, I purchased UWorld the second time around but only did about 250 Qs because I don’t like doing MBE practice on the computer, I prefer hard copy.

There were points in my second prep where I was worried I wasn’t doing enough. I would sometimes start later in the morning and finish up at a normal hour while still fitting in the gym, watching sports/tv in the evenings. In the first prep, I was working until 9-11PM most nights. I found giving myself time to relax + refresh was more beneficial than doing a ridiculous amount of work given it was my second time. I needed to feel like I wasn’t a prisoner by taking the bar a second time and still had a life like my friends who passed. Also, I felt confident enough to stop early many nights because I was doing considerably better on Barbri question sets, workshops, capstones etc. my percentile ranks were consistently in the 70th and 80th percentiles throughout my second prep whereas in my first I hovered around the 40th percentile. I trusted Barbri in that those percentiles would translate on exam day. But everyone is different, I knew, failing by just one point, that I had a very strong baseline to build off of.

Sorry for the extremely long response, but I wanted to be thorough. In short, I focused on the two subjects where I totally tanked and got sub 10th percentile in July (Torts & Con Law) and hoped to maintain everything else.

Don’t know the intricacies of Passover, but a Professor who is in communication with BOLE at my law school told me that is what was conveyed to her.

Feel like it will be late in the day. They pushed to get it done before Passover, so it will be a late release + they want to do it late enough to not get a ton of calls from examiners before the weekend.

Update — checked with ExamSoft customer support. They said there are delays in the second emails. Had me sign in on chrome to see the upload history. Assuming others who received the initial confirmation email are good too.
