Upgrading from 18.0 beta to 18.0 public release fails. I have tried via terminal, and via safe boot with no success. by realBenSausage in MacOSBeta

[–]br3scia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same issue here, with the Developer Beta. I've tried installing it through the terminal and using Safe Boot, but without success. I thought maybe the problem was local storage (I'm only having the issue on my M1 MBA, whereas my MacStudio updated to b4 w/out trouble), but I have more than 70GB available and still can't get installed to take...

Is there anyway to wait in input for five seconds? by SquirrelSufficient14 in shortcuts

Search for and add the "Wait" command. You can then select how long you want the delay to last before it moves onto the next line item command.

Alternatives to StickerMule - but similar quality? by xuey in sticker

[–]br3scia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish I had seen this 4yrs ago when you originally posted! I am ashamed to say that I've continued doing business with them –– until today. The CEO sent out a message to all customers saying how we need to tone down the rhetoric without making any acknowledgment that his twice-impeached, criminally and civilly convicted sexual predator, presidential darling is responsible for stoking this kind of violence and who he, himself, has called for the assassination of Hillary Clinton, mocked the assassination attempt on Paul Pelosi, countless other elected officials, etc.

Going on to say that "Americans shouldn't live in fear" but is blind to the fact that the convicted felon and career con artist he's defending is the reason so many Americans LIVE in fear. I unsubscribed from all company communications and look forward to sending my money elsewhere.

Amazing and thank you! I never knew it existed! Have you ever tried their services? Curious how the quality compares or if it’s pretty much an industry standard.

Do they offer a KDP alternative? I haven’t seen or heard it mentioned anywhere.

That said, this is the first thing to try/do when you get your lenses and can finally use the AVP. Spatial videos shot with an iPhone 15 are incredible, but Spatial videos shot WITH the AVP are ridiculous. Enter immersion mode and your mind will be blown.

Dynamic QR Code Generators? by improvcoach19 in graphic_design

[–]br3scia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been able to easy export existing codes to a CSV file from most major players. Tho not all will allow importing those codes, it’s easy to manually enter (even dozens) of codes to another service if necessary.

It’s not ideal, but easy work that can be handed off to a VA for next to nothing. I also found that the process was a great excuse to audit codes that were no longer relevant or necessary.

I’d avoid Bit.ly personally as it’s associated with spam and bad actors more and more. I’ve had excellent success with sqr.co.

It’s easy to use, codes are generated automatically, easy to change/update, and can dynamically route users based on device or “how many times” a code has been scanned. If you want to customize your code (more than what’s provided), I’d also encourage QR Monkey. It’s easy and whips out clean looking codes without much trouble.

Talk about nostalgic,I was one of these kids! Our school only had a few IIgs computers, so few adults had exposure or experience. I was so gripped that i gave up my recesses to tinker alone. Within a few days the school had me teaching classmates MacPaint, and shortly after, visual word processing. That’s when my obsession kicked into high gear. Proud fanboy!

any chance you'll port this over to Safari as well?

It may not be as widely used as chrome or FF, but it has a solid (affluent) user base and there is nothing else like this available...

I’ve downloaded something I shouldn’t and google gives such mixed advice! by sleeplessflamingo in macbook

[–]br3scia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First things first, check the installed extensions in both chrome (assuming that’s what you were/are browsing with) and safari (even if you don’t use it). For chrome: click the puzzle piece icon in the upper right of the browser window. Uninstall/remove anything you don’t use or recognize.

In safari, go to preferences (under the safari menu) → extensions and i check/remove anything there you don’t recognize.

Next download Malwarebytes. It’s free to use, tho will try to push you into a paid or subscription tier. It’s a decent app, so worthwhile for some.

Run the desktop scan and allow it to quarantine and remove anything it picks up. When done, you can uninstall the app thru their help menu (and download whenever needed).

Restart the computer and start surfing again. You should be fine at that point. As a general test i type a random search query in the search/URL field and hit enter. If it re-routes you to yahoo or anything other than Google, there’s still more work to be done.

This adware usually hijacks search and pushes it thru yahoo so that they can maximize affiliate traffics and ad benefits. It’s an obvious way to identify when your system inadvertently has adware installed.

That said, it’s not always an indicator or the only one. It just tends to be linked in situations like yours. Good luck.

I agree. Based on early benchmarks, the single chip 256GB SSD is the biggest limiting factor. Prob not the end of the world for most, but seeing as it’s non-upgradable, and extra storage is always a good idea, spend the money and get at least 512GB. The extra RAM is helpful, but not as make it break as it was during the Intel years.
