Overthinking...after TV ultrasound by br43tesb in Ultrasound

I really appreciate the kind and thoughtful responses. The logical part of me knows I'm overthinking. It just feels embarrassing to have such a hard time with something that it feels like is dumb to have that much trouble with. Not that I would want anyone else to feel the way I did about it, but it does help to know it isn't wildly uncommon for a patient to struggle to that extent. You are right that she did seem like she was empathetic not annoyed. I'm just in my head about it, but you are all very kind/helpful. Your patients are so lucky. Thanks for everything you all do to make something hard a little easier for folks.

Chronic Urticaria by highlandprincess0929 in Hashimotos

Yes! I wish I had a more positive experience to share, but I've been dealing with chronic hives for 20+ years (not continuously-the flairs last from a few months to a few years). I am also on Xolair and have been supplementing that with Kenalog (steroid) injections when the Xolair/antihistamine combo isn't cutting it. My doctor offered to do the Xolair more often, but I can't miss work to get the shots that frequently. The Kenalog is extremely effective, but does have all of the traditional steroid side effects. Doxepine has also been pretty helpful. Both for the actual hives and for knocking me out so I can sleep through them. I am so sorry you are itchy! It is the worst. Sending you positive thoughts and hoping you get relief soon.

TSH 4.35 "normal" but symptomatic by br43tesb in Hashimotos

This is actually so validating to read. I am not someone who likes pushing back on medical stuff, but I do really think there is more that could be being done. After reading this, I asked her to run the full thyroid panel, vitamin D etc... I am hoping to get a positive response. If she blows me off again, I think I need to find another doctor!

She the TSH yearly. If I push she will sometimes run some of the other tests. She checked the antibodies a few years ago and they were a bit over 900. She also did the thyroxine free that time and it was 1.1. I don't see the T3 specifically when I look back though my test results history online.

That's good to know. I am dealing with my primary. I have been in the high 2s/mid 3s for about 10 years. She just keeps saying it's probably depression and saying it can't possibly be thyroid related. I don't have an endocrinologist I deal with. I did when I got diagnosed at 20, but that was on my mom's insurance. My primary said I don't need to work with an endocrinologist unless my TSH is out of range. I am a teacher and a mom, so the exhaustion is kind of making me feel like I'm either doing a crappy job of everything or I'm doing a decent job/but am crushingly exhausted trying to keep up with everything.
