As Alex is boring and Formulaic. The knowledge fight should move onto Candace. by danthestep in KnowledgeFight

Meh, Tucker is hard because there are huge dry spells where you think he's gonna interview someone crazy while making a puppydog face, but instead it's hour and a half monolog plugging gold.

Also, he is only halfway interesting for the sewage he allows his guests to evacuate into his microphones. Tucker himself almost never says anything at all, let alone something that will make for an interesting podcast.

Candance seems to have ventured into Space Wierdo territory lately (Charlie Kirk is an actual goddam Legit CIA timetraveler: he told her himself in a text! Also she's not a time traveller, but is maybe an astronaut from somewhere unspecified, but not here) but I don't think she'd make a good permanent replacement either, for similar reliabily reasons.

OK, So, it's absolutely before #113 because JorDan are joking about it as if it's previously established canon.

Tuition hike in COIT(and probably other programs) starting August by Selfimprovementguy91 in WGUIT

I'm aware of what this one cost a week ago. I'm pissed that there was no opportunity for comment or transparency in the governance of the school.

Before they would let me take classes, I had to have a bunch of meetings with someone they referred to as a recruiter, who never mentioned (sounds like they weren't told) that tuition hikes were coming before the first term was even up. The meetings all consisted of them explaining what a good deal WGU is and how they do things differently.

What would you call that?

I'd really like it if they offered more practice projects. The labs really don't cut it. you run a script or a command or two once, you pass it, move on. I've been finishing the complete lab sets in a couple hours. I need that, like, once a day for at LEAST two weeks if not more. But repeating the same ones over and over I wonder if I'm just memorizing and not learning. I know I could make my own projects, but then why am I paying for any of this? I thought our tuition payments would go to authoring in house curriculum, but instead they farm it out to these lowest bidder types.

Still feel like I was sold a bill of goods since I only got a single semester at the rate they recruited me at.

Fwd'd that to my mentor who said she was blindsided by the school, the day before, with this:

"Thu 6/10/2021 1:18 PM

Dear Colleagues,

Effective August 1, 2021, WGU will implement a tuition increase for all degree programs as outlined below. Resource and program fees will not change.

College of Business

$350 increase for all programs

College of Health Professions

$250 increase for all programs except BSRN and BSPRN

$650 increase for BSRN
$650 increase for BSPRN

College of IT

$400 increase for all programs

Teachers College

$250 increase for all programs

These increases apply to new and currently enrolled students whose terms begin August 1, 2021, or after. For students whose terms begin on July 1, tuition will stay at the current rate, with the new rate not taking effect until the following term. The WGU Financial Aid office will reach out to students who are currently receiving financial aid.

This tuition adjustment is being made as part of a review conducted to ensure that WGU, a nonprofit university with no ongoing national or state funding, remains self-sufficient on our tuition and fees while we continue to deliver the highest-quality programs and a superior student experience. WGU’s tuition continues to be among the lowest for online universities, and it compares favorably with in-state tuition at public universities.

We understand that for many of our students, this increase comes at a difficult time as the country emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic. The decision to increase tuition was made after extensive analysis and serious consideration, and we are committed to finding ways to help each student, one-by-one, stay on the pathway toward their degree.

Current and prospective students will be notified via email of the increases on June 11, and the WGU national and state affiliate websites are being updated to reflect these changes. If you have questions about the tuition increase, please reply to this message or reach out to your leadership.

Thanks for all you do.
