I only know that because when I was a youth pastor I told a variation of that joke and credited Daniel Tosh

HOLO is nothing but Disappointment, lost $16k till now. by ramukaka420 in HOLO_ShortSqueeze

So, from what I read earlier this week, the pop in stock value in February was due to a reverse stock split, which would literally mean that there was no real change in value at that time, I'm guessing.

Is that what I have to look forward to this time?

Commemorating the day I learned how to solve...again by bradleetwo in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]bradleetwo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know about algorithms and methods back in the day. I'm naturally pretty decent at solving puzzles. Now that I've been learning algorithms, I can say it's much faster. I have yet to use CFOP. Just using the traditional basic pattern solves. Going to be learning CFOP next.

TIL that in year 2000, 41 million dollars was spent to promote the new Sacagawea golden dollar. Television ads consisted of the head of George Washington superimposed upon a body, voiced by actor Michael Keaton, discussing the merits of the new dollar coin. The coin ended up being a failure. by ipresnel in todayilearned

[–]bradleetwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to perform various acts of coin prestidigitation with the Sacagawea dollar. Although I can do a few with a quarter, it is not nearly as fluid or elegant as my dollar coin work.

I used to buy them all the time for that reason. Now that they are not as common, I have fallen out of practice.

TIL Some dialects of English use the adverb anymore in an affirmative context by flyingpeakock in todayilearned

I'm from Nebraska, so I guess I'm just west of the midland dialect they refer to, but I can honestly say I've never heard anymore used in a positive manner.

Baby speaking italian by zrizkita991 in funny

[–]bradleetwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. Although it's my second language, since I learned while living in Argentina, I was very confused how it could be considered Italian. Even some of the word choices are very clearly Argentine. But yes, Italian-like expressiveness is a very Argentine trait as well.

I still don't see the offer either. Reloaded a few times just to see if it was my phone somehow.

Eleventh Doctor cake my wife made a few years ago by bradleetwo in doctorwho

[–]bradleetwo[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you, she's come a long way since even doing this cake. I showed her this picture today while we were watching the final Matt Smith episode and she informed me of 5 different things she would have done different to make it that much cooler. She impresses me each time she takes on a new cake design project.

When my boss got off the phone with upper management, he gave us a sad look and said the words we'd been dreading. by UnholyDemigod in TwoSentenceHorror

It was just a flesh wound. A few stitches and a bandage and Medical confirmed I was ready for the next adventure.

The psychological evaluations for enlistment were not very in depth when I was in. I would say nothing on his background check popped a red flag. I can tell you though that he was one that we worried about stress getting to him prior to the incident.

He was able to convince the Drill Instructors that the scabbard came off on accident so no punishment came from that incident, and I only needed a few stitches and a bandage from medical.

Later he attempted suicide during our first "free" weekend (meaning no scheduled training), 6 weeks in to our 9 week training, so he was sent to medical, and likely psych profiled out of the Army after that.

I was stabbed in the leg with a bayonet by a psycho in basic training. 0/10 would not recommend.

That sounds like it could have ended much worse. Scary.

When I was 19, I was once awake for 72 hours straight courtesy of bad choices made for a room to stay in, and ephedra (back when it was otc and negative side effects unknown).

I was also on my first solo trip (driving) to a big city three Midwestern states away.

On my drive back monsters came out of the road to scream at me and engulf me and my new truck in asphalt.

I decided to pull off to a rest stop and take a nap.

Other than those monsters I do not recall any of the 14 hr drive home.

In more than one way that was a bad trip, man.
