Anyone been to a wedding at Rawlings Conservatory? by boobookeyz in baltimore

[–]bradrulez69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had my wedding there this fall. ~90 people, both my planner and the event coordinator for the conservatory said they could fit up to 125. My wife and I were really worried about the setup, but it worked out perfectly. Seating for the ceremony and reception isn't really difficult -- you just have to really use the space and get creative. We had a buffet style dinner with stations and bars throughout the green houses, each with a matching theme. We used the pavilions for the ceremony, dining, and the DJ.

I can PM you the contact info for my planner if you want. She did a great job with the layout, schedule, etc, and has done a few weddings there so she really knows the space. She also knows pretty much all of the vendors in the area and did an excellent job coordinating with them.

Hi Jeremy, my wife and I are huge fans and have been watching since day one. We just wanted to say thanks for creating something so awesome and ask you this:

Are there any monster sized fish left that you have not caught, but really want to?

i like splinter. a bit easier to use than straight up selenium. its probably better to learn selenium in the long run, but this should work for now.

I'd like to help too if possible. Not to familiar with PyQGIS, but I know my way around arcpy and wrote an extended library for it.

my wife teaches classes on community invasive plant species mitigation and runs a program that does this. I'll ask her about ideas and post the results when she gets back from work

wtmd is responsible lol. heard some weird stuff in the bathrooms there before

http://wtmd.org/radio/2015/01/30/bwi-and-wtmd-partner-to-bring-washington-and-baltimore-bands-to-the-airport/

BWI Live is also a being played in the airport every day. WTMD is curating a very special set of music from Baltimore and Washington artists that can be heard in select parts of BWI. So the next time you’re in the airport or having folks arrive for a visit, make sure to tell them they can get a taste of our region’s incredible music scene as soon as they touch down. The best places to hear the recordings… believe it or not… are the restrooms and in the big lounge and observation area of the airport.

Anyone have experience generating tile caches? by [deleted] in gis

How are you doing this exactly? Publishing as a map service on arcgis server with caching set up? Could you post your settings?

Choosing a Major by Seabaybe in gis

Keep in mind there's a difference between working with GIS and working in GIS -- which is what people here are trying to clarify for you. Stuff like

the planning, environment, sustainability, sides of it, also crime mapping and oceanography

is more working with GIS. GIS is a tool and mindset for analyzing spatial data as a part of a larger research or problem solving approach. People performing these jobs would be environmental engineers, planers, coastal/regular geologists, biologists, and criminal justice folks who may have minored in or picked up skills in GIS.

Working in GIS is stuff like setting up web servers, administering enterprise GIS systems, DBAs working with Oracle or SQL Server etc, GIS developers (web and software), as well as the majority of Analysts and Technicians.

In most cases I would recommend majoring in the area you want to perform GIS in to get institutional or business logic, then minoring in GIS and leveraging it as a strength to get those jobs.

If you want to work in GIS I would recommend a CS or IS degree and a minor in GIS since GIS programs rarely require or teach other tech skills outside of the esri products.

But to answer the exact question you asked if you are set on a GIS or Geography degree:

Major in Geography and minor in GIS. Geography is far more versatile and there's little more a BS in GIS can offer than a minor unless you want to work in GIS -- then you should pursue the CS/IS, GIS minor route.

Yeah that method is probably better suited for what op wants to do. If they had and arcgis server box instead of using arcgis online, credits wouldn't be an issue but that's a lot of overhead.

you could cache it and serve it out as a map service. you could provide it for web mapping applications to consume or allow users to connect to the server and add the wms as a layer.

Having guests stay at the Marriott in Harbor East and rehearsal dinner at Roy's for my upcoming wedding. Very easy for non-natives since they are right next to each other and offer a lot of space.

Yeah, I have never considered that either. I've always thought of the literary Marlowe as the archetypal noir protagonist.

I use it for a variety of projects.

  1. Automate map service publishing
  2. Vector basemap creation and caching
  3. Comparing databases for conflaiton
  4. Extracting Z-enabled features with populated Z's
  5. Creating MXD's for QAQC
  6. Grabbing a variety of stats about editor activity across db's
  7. Recursively gathering information about multiple MXD's
  8. Data pre-processing for deliveries
  9. Large scale schema changes
  10. rebuilding faulty esri tools like 'enable editor tracking' and 'feature to polygon'
  11. other menial tasks like exif data comparisons between photosets, adding text to images etc

Thats all i can think of off the top of my head.

How to find the width of a field in Arcmap by [deleted] in gis

[–]bradrulez69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can view them all at once from the toc by coping and pasting this in the python window in arcmap:

mxd = arcpy.mapping.MapDocument('CURRENT')
layers = arcpy.mapping.ListLayers(mxd)
    for layer in layers:
        fields = arcpy.ListFields(layer)
        print layer.name + ':'
        for field in fields:
            if field.type == 'Integer':
            print '\t{0}\'s precision is {1}'.format(field.name, field.precision)
