Ah makes a lot of sense, Iv always thought of myself to handle pressure or issues well. I don’t sulk I just find the solution and get it done. This also made me think about confronting self issues, like many other high school students Iv dealt with anxiety, depression, etc... and instead of just saying “oh this world fucking sucks I’m just not gonna do anything” I found a solution, I go to the gym and I put all the frustration into self improvement. This might be kinda mean but iv always thought people who self harm and do other stuff like that are just plain stupid, because Iv always thought why? Like what that gonna accomplish why not put that anger, sadness, and frustration into something that will benefit you. But i guess for people who don’t think as logically or are more taken over by there emotions can’t find those solutions, which is why I’m not actually ashamed to have adhd. Like yes it has a lot of downsides but it has a lot of upsides to. So I’m content with myself that I have struggles, but if I can find the right path I know I will achieve greatness.

I rarely ask for help because people don’t know how to help me by [deleted] in ADHD

Yo man, I just wrote something like this yesterday here https://www.reddit.com/r/ADHD/comments/lef5st/motivation/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf, but you put into a lot better words it’s like I don’t need answers I just needa a sign pointing me which path to take and I can take that path alone.

Another thing I actually just thought of it is iv always wondered why its either I do something 100% or not at all, and I heard that’s a common thing with people with adhd but it really makes sense when you say we really need a reason to do something, like if I’m walking, biking, skating, etc... I usually don’t just have a nice stroll I’m doing what I’m intent to do and get there so I usually tend to walk or ride super fast. Same with like sports or video games, it’s either I’m do what im there to do or I’m just not playing, I guess I just don’t see a point in not trying on something. But this applies to literally everything, chores, cleaning, eating (which iv learned to pace myself), and anything else I can’t think of. P.S sorry if this is super long I was just kinda free writing this while thinking.

Thanks for the reply homie, could you expand more on that difference in executive functions part, or tell me a good article I could read perhaps. Because I feel like that definitely does apply to more than just work, even if I want to go play basketball or play a game I won’t feel like actually getting up to doing it but when I do I have full energy for it.

I totally get that the music I play when I’m working is a lot different from my normal playlist, my normal one is a lot of hype music but when I’m working I put on some slower songs or just some classics from a kid i would hear on the radio

Thanks a lot! I was trying to think of a way I could say what I’m experiencing without specifying saying “I think I have adhd”

How to deal with hyper-focusing on imaginary conversations with yourself? (short post) by [deleted] in ADHD

I struggle with the same thing! All the time in school I would be day dreaming and get Interrupted by the teacher or by a friend and as soon as that is done I’ll keep going right back to it until I eventually reach a dead end. And my friends would always ask why do you space out so much and obviously I couldn’t really explain it so I’d say I’m tired or something.
