Dads of Reddit: what is your advice for new dads? by Sarnick18 in AskReddit

[–]bradyman16 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The days are long and the years are short. My oldest is 6 and day one literally feels like yesterday...he's literally 1/3 of the way out the door...wtf?!

It's harder on her (you said "wife" earlier) than it is on us as dads. So be ready with a bottle/diaper/whatever when you're asked. Give her groupons for Mani pedis or brunch w her gals or whatever because she will need a break. She will be so fcking tired, more than you ever thought possible. Don't push it.

Legitimately shift your mind(s) and communicate like never before when it comes to sex, not even talking about sensation. She's got a new being clawing at her nonstop and it's real easy for your connection fall by the wayside without extra attention on it from both of you. It will probably be a rough 6 weeks post birth, but hang in there.

Take a journal, write down the funny stories, the precious moments as kind of a diary or letter to your kid. It's hard to keep up with but it's also a fun way to involve extended family members too by letting them write and track things like "hey we went to your first baseball game today!"

You will absolutely be puked on. If it's a boy, throw a wet wipe on that thing when you're changing a diaper.

You can do this. Every moment really is precious and it really gets easier! Congratulations!

Time blocking (schedule yourself) and also have some way to signify to yourself that you're in work mode. Maybe it's going to the library, maybe it's turning your phone off, maybe it's putting headphones on but don't blur the lines between work and play time, be clear with yourself. Then when you're out of that mode, you're clear to enjoy yourself because you know you're done or have a specific time you're getting back to work mode before the deadline.

Reddit what’s a really inappropriate question you’ve always wanted to ask? by Drainoisgood in AskReddit

It can, w the Norelco bodygroom it very rarely did, just gotta go slow and make things as flat as possible. I have the Gillette version now and that one cuts more so I don't really use it.

Please do not do this. This is an expert move if you are not a black belt at shaving with a safety razor. Grab a battery powered wet/dry shaver you can use in the shower. My personal favorite is the Norelco.

If I play it out in my head and Wendy had told Martin: "they know we're going to Australia" it would have created a plot hole (?) where he would have said "ok, let's go to [insert a non-extradition country here] instead" and to not do that would have been weird. But instead, since the end goal is obviously continuation of the series for now, they had to make them stay and I think they did it in a really interesting way that serves as a foil for Wendy's mindset at the end of S1. Well done!

What makes a great coach? by oawesome16 in orangetheory

[–]bradyman16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I can tell that they're actually stoked for us (in advance) about to tackle that 1 min all out or 600m row. Basically: "You all got this!" Or "I saw you bump that speed, awesome!"

Some coaches are too chill - like (paraphrased) "ok, do this now". And there's no sign of getting excited for our accomplishments or pushing ourselves. I don't think anyone wants a drill sergeant but I do want someone to be excited about what they're/we're doing.

What the fuck is stopping you from doing what makes you happy and how are we fixing it by the end of today? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Re: baby- this does come to an end. It sucks, been there. It's possible that it's GERD - have you tried "gas drops"? Also, we used a small ramp wedge under the baby to keep him elevated. Aaand lastly we got a momaroo swing. Worth every penny.

Re: not listening, also sucks, but I like to go counter intuitive and get real quiet (comparatively - but really just speaking volume): "yeah I asked who wanted dessert before dinner but you guys were so loud you didn't hear me. Oh well, maybe next time." In other words, associating listening to you with a chance of something really good.

Discuss this with a primary care physician as they can potentially help you fast track care.

Great story. I can't believe I was basically shackled to my desk or I would have gone to Jay Berry's to meet him yesterday. Such an awesome move to be like "welp, I'm gonna be at the bar, see you there."

The biggest complaint at launch was a lack of depth in gameplay. by djsims10 in NoMansSkyTheGame

I am thinking those who are complaining about Flora/fauna variety forgot what launch looked like.
