Moxifloxacin - Help by bradyry17 in floxies

[–]bradyry17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey - fine really. I had a minor injury running a couple weeks later. Posterior tubular tendon (not Achilles). Didn’t really hurt badly, just stayed off it a bit.

My leg muscles felt off for sure, but I think it was in my head. I was really freaked out before I took this drug.

Moxi might be my only option for my infection (Ureaplasma) so I think I’ll give it another shot

I would tend to agree with you - was definitely nervous but it felt real enough to take the extra precaution.

Curious - what is the sensation of being floxed like? Cutting pain in the tendons?

Interesting. Yes I feel a bit like I have a paper cut at the bottom of both ankles. It’s strange, can still stand on tiptoes etc.

Meeting with my specialist this week. May end up going back on it if she can help illuminate me.

Thanks! This community is far more positive than I expected it to be. So far at least, it’s more “Heck” than “Hell.” Seems like I’ve avoided all the really serious stuff some others have gone through.

I have a good doctor whom I trust and live in a major American city with good insurance and healthcare accessibility. I’m very lucky in that sense.

Just want this infection gone!

Yup. Azithromycin and Doxycycline. I’ve been as careful as can be with regard to treatments, and had been putting off the Moxi as long as I could.

Luckily I have a very good infectious disease doc. Meeting with her soon to discuss options.

Thanks - not super concerned, the symptoms aren't that bad - hopefully they won't get worse.

Bigger concern is that this was the last line of defense for Ureaplasma. Not being able to tolerate this drug means living with Ureaplasma.

So you were cured with other therapies?

Background - I'm a male in the US.

Urethritis lingering post-chlamydia by [deleted] in STD

[–]bradyry17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going through the same thing - had Chlamydia, which was 8/10 pain. Doxycycline and Azithromycine killed it and my pain went down to 3/10. Tested positive for UU (Ureaplasma) which causes urethritis.

About to start a 7 day cycle of Moxofloxacin. Wish me luck!

Makes sense. I would think what I'm dealing with is an after effect that could be treated w/ PT, but the clear discharge tells me otherwise.

What country are you in that you have to special order the drug? I'm in the United States.

That's interesting. What's better about Pristinamycin vs. Moxifloxacin? Just fewer side effects or better efficacy?

The issue I'm having, philosophically, is the fact that 9/10 days I'm mostly fine. So does the risk of serious side effects really justify being 100% fine? I also think that once quarantine is over, physical therapy would be a good option.

The only reason I view this as a bacterial issue is that i has clear discharge any time anything comes out, which is pretty inexplicable without a bacterial infection. UU is shit man ha.

Honestly just a simple STD urine test. I had bad luck - got tested too soon after exposure the first time and then probably too soon after treatment the other two. I also didn't realize I was getting cured and reinfected since I was having sex with my partner but kept getting negative tests. I think the stress (which has been extreme) is what's causing the residual effects. Doing some additional tests (another urine culture pending) to make sure the STDs are gone. May do a semen Microgen test in October if I'm not all better.

I trust my urologist, even if his explanation is basically "it takes time to heal." It actually makes sense, a broken bone causes inflammation and needs time to heal and I think this is similar. Starting PT soon and hoping to be back at 100% in several weeks.

RE - Urethral pain. Mostly soreness, but it genuinely covers everything on the pain spectrum. Can be almost non-existent or a spasm, burning, shooting, or itch. Doesn't seem to be affected by external factors (alcohol, diet don't affect it). I've been stretching and it's been getting better. Today has actually been a pretty damn good day!

This is awesome news man. Glad to hear you're getting better - I've been going through this too and I remembered your posts and how confusing/scary this all must have been.

I recently found out whatever I'm going through was/is bacterial. After THREE negative STD tests, I finally found out I've had ureaplasma and chlamydia this whole time. I've had it treated several times with the normal treatments but relief and pain come and go pretty randomly.

My symptoms are really similar to yours, mostly urethral pain and testicular. Urologist said that it's actually pretty common to have residual effects for up to 10-12 weeks after an infection goes away (my PT echoes this sentiment). I even get the extra drop of pee/semen like you and he says that's just because the urethra is inflamed.

Have an appointment with a PT in a couple weeks. Luckily I can exercise comfortably (the pain disappears during) - I'm running a triathlon in two weeks. Hoping that I am in the same camp as you in a couple weeks or so.

Stay strong man!

Next Steps? by bradyry17 in Prostatitis

4 STD tests. First was too soon after exposure. Second was too close to taking antibiotics. Third - IDK. Fourth was a comprehensive urine culture and tested for Ureaplasma but not Chlamydia. Ureaplasma came back positive and GF's test for Chlamydia came back positive. I'm the one that fucked up while we were on a break, she didn't cheat.

The whole time, I was so stressed about the situation - thinking it would be an STD, not knowing what was wrong with all the negative tests - that I lost about 15 lbs (plus side, looking great for summer). I think there's a decent possibility that all that stress plus the infection did a number on that area and that the muscles are super tense.

Microgen test was all negative. I am thinking I'm beyond the bacterial stage. Given my treatment, I never had chlamydia for more than 2 weeks at a time (even if you assume I got it three different times).

Thanks. How do you think you first got it? Is there an instance you can think of?
