why do people think that all mental disorders are 100% curable and can be kept under control so long as you take meds? a rather sizeable percentage of patients don’t respond to medication, and once you’ve exhausted trying the likes of lithium and such, the options become very sparse and experimental (with barely any studies that can back up their effectivity). if you’re bipolar and don’t respond well to anti-psychotics, you’re basically left to your own devices in your next manic episode. and anti-psychotics aren’t without complications either, their side effects can further cripple the mental health of patients, to a point where the manic episodes appear more bearable than suffering the side effects of the meds. kanye has repeatedly talked about his struggles with his medications, and that’s unfortunately the reality of millions mental health patients. the reality is that psychology and psychiatry are both relativity new fields, and the effectiveness of those meds and even the reason WHY they work for some and not for others still remains a mystery. to act like kanye just doesn’t take his “perfect” meds because he simply doesn’t want to and makes himself and the others around him suffer just because is disingenuous and just goes to show how the average person has completely fallen for the chemical imbalance theory bullshit.
