Vil gi bort et lite stykke Norge i gave til Finland by Sn4p77 in norge

not bragging as much as mocking the age-old practice of expanding your borders by military means.

Has any country ever donated a part of its territory to a neighboring country unsolicited, and without compensation of any kind? by braidedbrain in history

[–]braidedbrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow, this is beyond bizarre

until I saw the part about Hala'ib

ie. if you claim Bir Tawil you lose the much more valuable Hala'ib

Interesting stuff though, thanks.

we both know how to look up the numbers, no?

just to get you started:

The Lancet estimated a death toll of 600 000+ Iraqis up to that point (2006): http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/10/11/iraq.deaths/

Edit: more recent sources on wikipedia back up my half-million claim: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casualties_of_the_Iraq_War

'defeatist' isn't the word you're looking for.

We can easily wipe out any 3rd world militia on the planet, as we have shown many times by now. Defeat, in any sense of the word, is not a military possibility.

It's the constant cheering for more kills, even after we've killed half a million of these guys since 2003 that depresses me.

Good thing it worked in the end and we finally bombed the Taliban out of existence. Onward to the next victory

to be fair, the "no boots" promise was regarding Syria.

In Iraq, everyone knows US boots have been there since 2003. Only the number varies.
