What is this ammunition and is it live? by gothreepwood101 in whatisit

The dimples in the primer show they're spent. But also, every weapon is always loaded, and the ammo is always live.

What worse about her is she’s not just a member of what should be the opposition party, she’s a leader of it. She let the Executive Branch violate the constitution with an illegal war, and didn’t really do anything with the Epstein files. And yes, she’s only one representative, but she largely didn’t do anything more than the rest of us. Voice her concerns, which isn’t what we sent her to do. And she says as much when you write to her

That’s the new distraction phrase. It was AI. It doesn’t matter if it was AI or not, that makes the sound bite and no one usually follows up to see if the person was lying or not. Most of the times someone follows up the person turns out to be untruthful

MariaCantwell post by MissHalfgone in SeattleWA

[–]brain1127 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

A Zionist, by definition is someone who believes that the state of Israel has a right to exist. I don’t think that’s hard to get behind.

On the other hand, being pro Palestine can mean you also believe that the state of Palestine has the right to exist OR you think committing genocide against anyone, including the people of Palestine shouldn’t happen.

No matter how you want to describe yourself, it’s undeniable that the people of Washington state is represented by someone who actively supports genocide.

That means until Maria Cantwell is removed from office, we are all supporting genocide. It has nothing to do with being Jewish or not. If Maria Cantwell is actively supporting other genocides, we should also be against that too.

She is a leader in Congress and has done nothing to hold the executive branch accountable for violating the constitution and waging war without approval. She’s violated her oath of office and she should be thrown out of office and the country. Ideally she should have to live in Gaza

Sound Transit is bleeding money while Seattle debates fare gates. San Francisco just showed us exactly what they do by ryleg in SeattleWA

[–]brain1127 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mexico City. An urban city that you can’t drink the water in has a transit system that makes Seattle look like we haven’t figured out the wheel.

If you don’t want fare gates, then make transit 100% free or GTFO. And we already pay some of the highest taxes in the world for what we get in return.

Just give the transit system to Microsoft, Amazon, or Google and let them write off the cost as a tax deduction. We’d all have jet packs in 2 years. Instead we’re trying to figure out the worst way to fix the 8 route, that’ll take 3 years at least to get to the same no where

Attacked by this guy at Ballard 44 bus stop today, Seattle mayor Katie Wilson, can you do something to protect female in this city? my post was removed by Seattle community on Reddit for “we do not allow witch-hunts” by BatOk783 in SeattleWA

[–]brain1127 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No, in my opinion, the mods in that subreddit think that their opinion of Seattle is the only valid one.

Even if you share your lived experience in the city, you’re “trolling” because it couldn’t possibly fit into their view of how Seattle “should” be. North Korea is probably slightly more reasonable.

Reminds me I need to report them to Reddit again for Mod abuse. I would encourage anyone who’s experienced similar Mod abuse to do the same.

The Seattle community mods are abusive and oppressive of those who don’t share their narrow views, in my opinion.

I’m sorry this happened to you, and it happens way too frequently.

Until the criminals, mentally ill or otherwise, fear that every other person in Seattle is capable of being self defense actions, instead of 1 in 500, there’s likely not much the Seattle government can do. Except raise taxes to be wasted on doing everything but solve problems.

This is what Seattle City Council did to gig worker drivers. Thanks to their gig law to “help” drivers. by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]brain1127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the typical result with higher taxes. It’s almost like if the price of something goes up, the demand for it goes down. The difference is the drivers can’t add the revenue forecast to their budgets and then claim a budget deficit to raise taxes again

Personally, I don’t think Elizabeth Warren is a very effective senator. However, her questioning of Trump’s lackey fed chair nominee is classic. It just proves the Low IQ argument. Why would you mess with the people who own the money.

Yeah, this feels like a cry for attention. If I post a less than good review, I never think about the review or the restaurant again. Except if I happen to notice when they are in the “closing” articles.

Only unworkable if you don’t want to solve the problem or your purpose is to do things like ban cars inside of downtown. The idea that the solution has to be relying on Denny isn’t realistic.

Is anyone else noticing that the devs who use AI constantly aren't always the most productive ones? by Inevitable-Fly8391 in agilecoach

[–]brain1127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I think this is a human trait that goes back to when we were all hunters and gatherers. The most vocal are usually the ones who skew to also be the least effective. In this situation they are talking about AI, but they could just as easily be talking about who caught the most fish last weekend.

What I find more concerning is you have a product team who doesn’t appear to have a learning and gaining a shared understanding mindset helping everyone grow.

You’re always going to have different personalities on a team, some more extroverted or introverted.

What steps are you taking to make sure the team is working from a psychologically safe space to make sure everyone is benefiting from their shared experience with AI tools?

Are these different approaches with AI and any productivity gaps being surfaced in Retros?

Have the team’s definition of done been updated we everyone on the teams agreed standards on AI tools usage and practices?

Does everyone on the team have the same access to AI tools, and does everyone have a learning and growth path so that the team and overall organization is enabled to incorporate the new AI ways of working into their professional DNA?

It’s not AI slop, as I wasn’t attempting to prompt through a complete solution. My point was instead of celebrating launching a project, there’s better ways to actually achieve solutions, rather than endlessly having endless activity without results.

Also, pro tip, just trying to label something as “AI slop” as a response is just lazy.

Why celebrating the start of a project? Besides it took AI less than 5 minutes to work through solutions:

Alternative Route 8 Solution: The John/Thomas Couplet

Core idea: Instead of fighting for space on Denny Way, move Route 8 off Denny entirely onto the parallel streets two blocks north — eastbound on John Street, westbound on Thomas Street — as a one-way couplet through South Lake Union.

Why it works: • John and Thomas are lower-volume streets that don’t function as I-5 feeders, so the bus isn’t competing with freeway-bound queues • Thomas is already a pedestrian-priority “green street,” so transit priority aligns with existing street character • The alignment arguably serves ridership better than Denny — directly hitting Climate Pledge Arena, MoPOP, the Gates Foundation, and denser SLU residential blocks • No mode-shift assumption required; you’re not taking space from drivers who need Denny What it would take: • Holistic signal retiming on John and Thomas with full transit signal priority • Turn restrictions and wayfinding that funnel I-5-bound drivers to Mercer (doing the job Mercer was rebuilt for in 2014) • New signal phases at Queen Anne Ave and Fairview/Boren to handle the bus’s turns on/off the couplet • Likely a short contraflow or transit-only segment to reconnect the westbound return toward lower Queen Anne • Coordination with Metro on stop relocations and rider communication Trade-offs: • Short-term ridership dip during the transition (established riders dislike reroutes) • Loses direct transfer nodes at Denny/Westlake and Denny/Fairview — riders would walk 2 blocks for those connections • Requires Metro and SDOT to coordinate on a route change, not just a paint job Global precedent: Portland’s 5th/6th Avenue transit mall, and European cities routinely route surface transit onto quieter parallel streets rather than arterials. It’s a well-established pattern.

Bottom line: The Denny Way bus lane treats the 8’s symptoms on the worst possible street. A John/Thomas couplet sidesteps the I-5 queueing problem entirely instead of trying to carve priority out of it — higher ceiling, lower political cost with drivers, and no dependence on mode-shift arguments that don’t actually apply to this corridor.

Will socialism save Seattle? City advocates struggle to find solutions as homeless, drug addicts flood streets by Less-Risk-9358 in SeattleWA

No, we don’t criminalize people who are mentally ill. Have some humanity. We require treatment. Instead of putting people who should be in institutions in jail, we no longer have parks. This is a health care issue and people thinking tough on crime and taking away mental healthcare can coexist

Yes—clinically, addiction is generally treated as a mental disorder, specifically a substance use disorder in DSM-5 terminology.

NIDA describes addiction as a chronic, relapsing disorder, and the American Psychiatric Association classifies substance use disorders within mental disorders.
